Two planes have crashed into the World Trade Center in NYC. At this point it is believed to be an act of terrorism.

NYC is at this point locked down. All of the bridges and tunnels are closed. All of the airports are closed. No trains running either.

This is just sickening. All I see is smoke covering all of downtown Manhattan.

Tacks... stay safe please... consider going home if you can. It's bad... many buildings in Washington DC have been evacuated, the Sears tower in Chicago is being evacuated too...

even the german tv stations keep on broadcasting non-stop from the US !
both of the twin towers are collapsed, also the pentagon.
I've heard they detected a kidnapped airplane and shot it down :-(

They just announced a plane has crashed in Summerset county, here in Pa. This is so unreal. I have no words, please be safe..

The shooting down of a plane is just a rumor at the moment (as is a car bomb at the white house).

I woke up watching the towers collapse.

There are very few things in my life that have ever made me so ... disturbed. Can't stop shaking...

Today is a day that will live in infamy. Words can't describe the sorrow and heartache shed on this horrible day. Please take a moment to think of those who lost their lives today.

I'm in the military, and I assure you, this will not go unpunished....preperations are under way as we speak...

The true importance of things become more real in a situation like this... your family, your loved ones, life, liberty, and safety. Those who believe in prayer, please pray for all the families victimized here... they are innocent victims of hatred. It appears as many as 20,000 people were in the towers at the time of the attack.

Our TV stations here in Sweden are reporting live from USA as well. TV4 was replaced by CNN for a while. This is so horrible

I know this is horrendously selfish of me to think this way in a time like this, but that quote doesn't make me feel very good, Borg. That, and all the news reporters calling this "an act of war." I'm the prime age to be drafted, and I'm sorry, but I *really* don't want to go to war.

On a more selfless note, I almost feel worse for the 200+ people in the planes. Even though the casualties in the towers proper is exponentially higher, they were lucky, because they didn't see it coming. The passengers on the plane were forced to sit there and watch while the towers got bigger and bigger...

Why do things like this have to happen?

Im in michigan. I can't belive what is happening. I know of two people that have been called into duty. My boss might be next because he is with the airforce. I am also very shocked at this am very concerned about what is going to happen. I also have heard that there are about 20 planes that are still in the air (commercial) Only are in contact.

As if the bombing weren't enough, I came home from my last class to see footage of Palestinians out in the streets cheering and celebrating. Even little kids, who more than likely didn't really even know what was going on. What does it say about humanity when people are having the time of their life after thousands of others were extinguished in seconds...

The media is swingling towards blaming Bin Laden... I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 'mysterious' abduction in Afganhistan some time soon...

I think that was just a small group of people out in a side street.
More cynical people have even suggested to me that perhaps the media paid those people to act it up for the cameras.

I'm sure if this was the scenes all across Israel/Palestine, then they wouldn't simply be showing the one thing over and over.

I remember riding to school this morning then hearing about the first crash and I was thinking what a horrific accident. But when I heard about the second crash.. I had no idea what to think.

People these days.. I can't believe it! If I were on one of those planes, I would have gotten my ass out of my seat and went and tried to take those bastards out... I mean how many people, at least 50 on each plane could have taken out the terroists. But I would be so horrified, I wouldn't know what to think...

Could you imagine jumping out of 110 story building?? Or maybe watching yourself flying into the trade center.. I have read some much on this.. There are people who watched the plane in headed toward Camp David crash.

But how hard of a desicion would it be to have the Air Force destroy a commerical airliner...

God bless all the families who have lost their loved ones..

I watched all of this today at school in all my classes. I watched both towers collapse on live tv. I feel depressed.

My condolences toward the families of those who lost and the children who lost parents.

Same here. They had this one feed of a guy jumping out of the building... So so sad..

This is bigger than Pearl Harbor, you can bet who ever is responsible will be dealt with. Most likely Palestinian terrorists.

President George W. Bush responds to the terrorist attacks, saying that The United States "will hunt down and punish those responsible for this."

Am I the only one who isn't very disturbed about this? I mean sure, it's the most "horrific terrorist attack" in the nation's history, but I really don't feel any which way towards it.

We can only hope it doesn't.

If that is true, then we will most likely go to war.

Trav, you sure about that? How are you not devasted.. That has just changed the way all of America looks at this.. In a matter of seconds.. The whole damn world has seen this.. And many people have died and your not disturbed. This could start wars and all. What are we to do just keep walking around. I mean what if you were in the building and got out. Would you stil say your didn't care? I am sorry if I sound pissed. But this has been one of the most horrific days. I was hoping Iwould never see somehting like this.

Sorry, if you think I'm selfish, conceited, (insert word here). But I can't help it that I don't feel anything, that's just the way I am. I don't get sad, mad, happy, whatever, mainly because it's not going to help the situation at hand.

Anyways, the fact of it is, I wasn't in the building, never WOULD be in the building. So, it would be kinda pointless to wonder "what if".

I don´t think this will lead to WWIII, all the countries have given support to USA. This is the act of some fanatic,religious group.

It was more than likely bin Laden and his goons. He said three weeks ago he was planning something 'big'.

All I can say, is that Afghanistan is in for a royal beating. If we're smart, we'll take the whole place over, along with other countries like them. If the body has cancer, you cut it out.

Well I just got up this morning and it was ALL over Australian TV. I give my simphathy to America and I hope the death toll wont be 50,000 like the estimated at this point.

Oh yeah, several students from our school, said they received e-mails yesterday(?), from Afghansitianians, saying that we(USA) should become alert soon.

those who did this want to show america and their arrogant foreign policy that they won't accept this anymore. And as you see they are too dangerous and too serious as you could overlook them.

I hope America has learned from things and will be smarter than everybody thinks they are.

What America stands for cannot be compared to what the country's around the world that have to deepest hatred for us stand for. We involve oursleves in the Middle East, because we believe everyone has the right to life, and the people there are threatening to take that right from people. Why does bin Laden hate us? Hell if I know, more than likely hates us 'butting into their buisness'. The world would be a better place for everyone if governments like the Taliban didn't exist. They've given safe refuge to bin Laden and his followers. They deserve to be taken out.

Believe it or not, America would be happy to live in a world of peace, and that's why we do what we do. Maybe we are blind to the fact that World Peace will more than likely never happen, but the blinding is intentional.

Very sad, can you imagine what those people were thinking at that moment.

Muc, You're absolutly right.
This operation needs highly qualified technicians. Think about it: How can a plane crash into one of the world's most advanced defence system?
Just to make it clear: Islam does not allow actions like this because it does not allow killing innocent people.

I don't even wan't to try to imagine what those people thought... It scares the hell out of me.

My mother told me, the one which crashed in Pensylvania had a CNN reporter on board, she was hidden in the bathroom, and called her husband. And she did some coverage of whats going on.

I really hope she had the chance to say "goodbye" to her husband... and her 2 kids...

This really makes me sad, call me weak but I even feel a tear coming down. And I'm not even American.

This is only one of those victems who died, amongst many many many others.


Then the other story, those horrible people in Afghanistan, enjoying themselves and dancing on the streets as they heard the news about America! That's really pathetic...

When I see this **** , I'm thinking of bombing them all to dead, since they like that very much.

Also it's proven that at least 75% off all the terrorists bombers/hijackers/etc are from Afghanistan or have been training there!!!

Now I say on my turn, looking back at the past, just bombing a few targets here and there doesn't make one difference. You can only expect it coming back at you, someday...

Why not bomb whole Afghanistan?
Just wipe everything out there, so it won't have the power or people to retaliate back! If you only bomb 2 or 3 things, they will come back at you! And then again more people get hurt or killed, but when you just wipe out the place, you will be rest assured no new attacks will take place anytime near in the future.


I probably made some people angry with my opinion, but that's how I see it. You can only cure cancer, by cutting it out from the root & surroundings.

I also wanted to wish all the people who lost families / friends / relatives / loved ones, all the best in the world and may their wounds be healed in time and peace return to their minds.
