Hello, Does anybody know what happened to the Ultimate Guest Book(UGB)? I liked that Guestbook Script and I'm looking for a copy, so if anybody has one, please contact me. Also, if you know other Guestbook Scripts without any Commercial Banners on them, please let me know thoses links as well. Thanks a million!

Please be advised that the UGB has a number of known security issues. Do not use it.

No, not offering anything better. Just simply advising you that the UGB was pulled because it has security problems. You can make your own decisions from there but at least you need to know this information to make an informed decision.
Picture perfect penmanship here.

Just Search Guest Book at some Search engine and you'll find some good one like that.

Thanks to John Round who sent me a copy of UGB, but a friend told me about another very good Guestbook Script, which I'm probably going to usw. If anyone is interested check out this link . Let me know what you think, since I don't have it running just yet.

They're editing an HTML file to show more entries? Wouldn't it be better to use guestbook.cgi? And the last update was in '95... And even the 'working demo' doesn't work Don't expect for too much

Yes, we all know Matt's scripts. They're reknown for being some of the worst, most poorly written, most insecure scripts on the net.
He hasn't updated them in 5 years, and they wern't that good then either. The problem is, he was amonst the first to give scripts away thus everyone knows his scripts and links to them as good for newbies. They're not.
Stay away from them. He knows they're bad, and doesn't care. He will not fix or support them.

If you want to use something Matt-ish without the security holes and bugs, go to http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/ ...

:shiver: arg... Matt's Scripts are a load of crap. There's a lot of good guestbook scripts out there. Go to http://www.hotscripts.com and select the language you want the guestbook in, and then choose the guestbook category (the best ones are written in CGI and PHP (with MySQL). Two really good ones are at: http://www.proxy2.de/scripts.php The "Advanced Guestbook" is the best I've ever seen (written in PHP, requires MySQL), and the "Guestbook" is written in Perl. Two excellent scripts.

http://php.resourceindex.com and http://cgi.resourceindex.com are two more good sites that I use all the time when searching for scripts. ---Jamin
