Completely up to you, but if you aren't in a hurry, I'd wait for v6 to be released... very easy to modify the templates and much more to come

it's really as I'm on a 'free' server and my bandwidth usage is huge I know it'd keep my man with the server very sweet, he'd also let me run other sites then hopefully I'd really appreciate your opinion Allen on the pro's and con's of the two side by side

As long as you don't go crazy with template mods on the Threads board it will use less of that bandwidth you mentioned. It's all .css and has far less tabling , etc. Less html, less bandwidth. Since it uses PHP and MySQL it's run up that load average a lot less too.
Picture perfect penmanship here.

Threads scales. UBB doesn't.

If you regret right after moving, just load backups. The problem is if you regret like 1 month afterwards.

A bigger problem is that the license conversion is one-way.

There is no official un-conversion option - you have to be sure...

I posted a review of threads in this month's ezine. It's a nice forum software, but still in it's infancy regarding maturity. V6 goes a long ways to helping this, but it still has some work to do. Once V6.0 is out and the bugs are worked out, I'd look to see it improving quite rapidly, scream is good and getting the coding worked out for the major changes introduced this time around provides a very nice basis for future improvements. I plan to put together a "ubb-like" interface with the templates if that's what your users are used to, there's lots more in store I am sure

Depends. Really up to you. I prefer to run a Perl based BB system.

They were talking about the 19th of this month - not sure if that has altered.

Why do you prefer Perl based BB's?
(Not a criticism - but a genuine question.)

I am absolutely upgrading one of my UBB licenses when v6 is released. I just hope Infopop doesn't pull the plug on the upgrade deal. I think a lot of people will take advantage of it if they play this right.
