Just after I had finished adding hacks to my 6.2.1.1 and am in the middle of doing templates...

Ah well, I'll wait for the final and do hacks again tipsy .

There are 134 admins that use them, mostly corporate UBBs. smile

Yeah, there seem to be many corporate UBBs around - I got contacted by some of them when Qasic.COM was LockedArea protected.

We will be providing documentation for creating your own template and style sets later on in the beta period. At this time we would like everyone to use the addtional sets we have provided.

Does this mean there will be a built-in text/file editor thing in UBB? Or there will be some really quick simple automatic way to change the template files? Or are you just going to have a tutorial about what all the template files are for and stuff?

And can I start working on T2 now? Just on my own little localhost test board, of course. Since I got so bogged down before, I decided to wait till 6.3 before doing it. Now I'm wanting to get started on it. Is there some pressing reason why I can't/shouldn't mess with the template files in the normal manner?

Thanks much. smile

Creating an alternate set is really easy.

1) Make a new directory beneath the Templates directory - name it with alphanumerics only.
2) Copy a public_common.pl into it
3) Copy any other public templates that you wish to customize into it. (Templates that aren't inside the dir will be loaded from the main dir instead)
4) Go into the style template association area and switch what you desire to use the alternate set.

Enjoy. smile

You'll still need to manually alter each of the template files... as we've never required alternate permissions on the files, we can't do in-UBB editing. Even then, the templates aren't templaty (err...) enough to make editing them inside the control panel easy enough.

Great! I was worried there for a minute that you could only choose pre-made ones.

We'll be posting instructions on how to roll your own set (and take advantage of the new CSS + custom graphic abilities of style templates) very soon.

Upgrading...Can't wait till the final is out. Will some hacks from 6.2 work? Mainly the Statistics hack?

The statistics hack is a server killer - no one should use it.

However, most hacks should be able to run with little modification.

Ah, I see. Sorry I misunderstood, I though the only alternates you could use were the alternates that come with it.

Well, this is true
But don't forget that it's possible to turn the load intensive off.

I think it's easier to say what is not load intensive.

I never nopticed any difference with the server when I had the Statistics in, unless it doesn't affect it in that kind of way.

No, because Daily Topics, Daily Posts and Averages require the Total Posts and Topics and they are calculated even if you turn this feature off as long as you have something activated which require the Total Posts and Topics.

I was asking the script author.

I don't think it's load intensive because he didn't list it and UBB6 logs that in the CP as default anyway so I'm assuming it's load intensivity is kind of irrelivant.
