The new name and face of Firebird was released earlier today. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox Personally I think the browser is good, but the name is terrible. Then again, just like most names, I'll probably grow to like it. What's your opinion on either the browser or its new name?

Did I miss something or does Firefox not have an email link, to open the mail program?

I think firebir.. err.. FOX is just the standalone browser, thrunderbird is the email program. You'll have to download that, or else download Mozilla 1.6 which comes with a mail program. I may be wrong of course... that happens sometimes.

Since Firebird/fox is the browser portion of Mozilla, it could sort of be thought of as a child of Mozilla. Therefore, in my opinion, it should be called Mozuki. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader as to why (hint: you needed to be watching cartoons in the early to mid-80's) --mark

I dunno, I've been on the Moz 1.8 nightly builds for a while. I've tried Firefox at home, but I seem to like real Mozilla better. Some of the things in Firefox are well...different. Then again, I've been using Mozilla since 0.8 so I'm a bit biased

The reason I don't use firefox is due to it crashing with Ensim... As I use ensim at work it's a PITA when all my tab's close when i'm in the middle of working on a server...
Cause: when using "log out" or rebooting a server from the Ensim UI firefox will crash as soon as it loads the logout page... Mozilla works fine on it however...

Firefox is nowhere near as good on a mac as it is on a windows box. Camino seems half decent though. Still messing with it.

I upgraded to .9 about an hour after it was released. Sadly, I rolled back to .8 about 4 hours after upgrading to .9 after realising that .9 was probably rushed to get it out less than a week later than anticipated, so it was still quite buggy. There were still bugs nominated to block its release, for crying out loud, why did they release it?
This is probably the first Moz release that I've actually felt disappointed with.

I wasn't impressed with firefox one bit; i mean if the browser crashes when loging out of an ensim enviroment it can't be used by me as all of our servers use them...

Sorry Gizzy. I access to DirectAdmin and Plesk. You could visit Ensim\'s Demo and see if you can get it to crash

The demo isn't a live setup; it's just a look alike with redirects sadly so it woudln't replicate the issue. I may test it out later on when i get some time and things calm down at work

I'm checkin out the latest version and it looks like they may have finally pounded out the issue with Ensim! (hadn't set a server reboot request yet, but then again i don't do those that often)... I also notice that a new version of mozilla is out so I also upgraded that... All in all I've always been impressed with the Mozilla line; two of my favorite browsers and i have minimal issues with them... Great work ...

This not only affects Firefox, but also Mozilla 1.x and Thunderbird. For those who want the gory details, visit http://www.mozilla.org/security/shell.html

I love Firefox, but I've noticed some weird things that happen with UBB:
1 - it seems to have trouble logging out. I'll log out of my board, and it says "logged out," but when I return I'm still logged in.
2 - new message lights are erratic
3 - (most annoying) if there are a lot of graphics on the page, it won't load the page all the way to the bottom until it's finished loading the graphics. On a UBB thread, this means that you don't see the newest posts or the reply box until it has loaded everything else. (It also happens with other non-UBB sites too.)
I don't have these problems on MSIE, and I imported my MSIE settings when I installed it. Has anyone else noticed these things?

actually that's probably caused by using frames with your ubb quote: [qb]2 - new message lights are erratic[/qb] actually that's probably caused by using frames with your ubb quote: 3 - (most annoying) if there are a lot of graphics on the page, it won't load the page all the way to the bottom until it's finished loading the graphics. Firefox has never done that for me on any site I've visited. I actually find it loads things a little faster than IE

nope, it's not frames. I have the same problem without frames, and in fact, I just tried logging out on this board, and the same thing happened -- I logged out, even shut down the browser, opened a new browser, and came back in, and here I am posting.
It might have something to do with my configuration of Firefox, but I can't imagine what.
