a funny thing happened on my way to ubbdev...
I registered up here right before the hosting move last year. And shortly after the move, I encountered weirdness one night when I editied my profile. It wouldnt save changes or something flaky like that. Didnt seem to be a big deal and I figured it was just post-move glitcheys that would work themselves out. Unfortunately, thereafter I was seeing no dates on stuff
no dates on summary pages, and no dates on topics/replies... just a time.
That sucked. Here I am last couple months reading and reading, and studying things and searching out things like a good lil newb. trying hard to digest the brilliance, but scared to actually do anything useful I found cuz I had no idea how old it was.
Now I finally get both the courage and spare time to apply my first big mod, post my troubles and wait for help... and thought "gee I oughta trim my public name and sig, it's awfully long". Save changes to my profile, post anuther message, and walla - I see dates again!!! boy what a wunderful thing a datestamp can be!
despite the shame that it took me so dang long to figure out something was wrong :rolleyes: I thought I would share this in case there are any stray lurkers out there who might likewise be wondering where the dates went.
