You might want to post this in the "Chit Chat" forum instead.

There is already a FREE spellchecker for the UBB which uses spellcheck.net's services. This mod can be found here (6.7.x, previous versions can be found in their respected forums). I can honestly say (as a developer and a UBB.Classic board operator) that I woudln't want to integrate something to my board and serve ad's of another site just to do advertising for others (where I sell my advertising space to 3rd parties). Personally I feel that it'd be worthless to me on my sites when the same thing is redily available for the current version of the UBB with a trusted spellcheck service which has served us all well since the 5x series.

Just wanted to add that if you use spellcheck.net you do have an advertizement (I don't think it's allowed to remove it) and the UBB 5 spellchecker was www.spellchecker.net , not spellcheck.net. I think it's a good idea to have an alternative, in order to make each version better and in case spellcheck.net stop functioning.

Yeh, but I don't see google adsense as too intrusive, considering I use it myself lol... My users are used to it by now :x...

Cliff, I know these guys can be a tough crowd, and franklly I don't blame them. They want the best for thier communities. My advice to you would be this - Before you go spamming about on the dev sites for your product it would be a good idea to finish your website. I clicked your link, tried to have a look and found "THE DEMO IS OFFLINE!!" "MORE INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON"
Picture perfect penmanship here.

Ya know, allowing a "learn" option isn't good... I just added all the words to see if it'd let me; it's a risk for anyone wanting to be a pain...
One large thing that bothers me, how could your services be used by "thousands of users worldwide" when you've just bairly gotten it started?

The learn functionality is specific to your client, ie, cookie based. It will not affect other users. The technology behind the service is in use by many thousands because it uses JSpell which has been around since 1996.

quote: The SpellHost Spell Checker is in use by thousands of users worldwide. The technology behind SpellHost has been tested and refined for the best spell check performance possible. We are so sure that you will be happy with our spell check service that we are offering a Free 30 Day No Obligation Trial to try our Spell Checker service. You're not stating that JSpell is in use by thousands of users, you're specifically stating that YOUR services are in use by thousands of users... Where if you stated "The Technology behind our spell check services is in use by thousands of users worldwide" would be truthful; your statement isn't.

Thanks for the feedback. I will make sure that is clarified on our site. By the way, have you had a chance to try out the demo?
Thanks! Cliff.

Tried it out, has a nice interface which i'm pretty impressed by and works quite well (I enjoy the learn function; I use some words that most dictionarys don't have presant). I'm just incredibly anal about claims on sites not being true as they can end up biting you back in the end.

OK, another website related feedback issue. How are users supposed to login when you have a user/pass box without a submit button?

The site that you see is just a 'dummy' site. It is being redesigned right now. The part that we're focusing on is the spell checker portion. Thanks for the feedback!
Cliff.
