I am trying to make some dvd copies of my trip to paris and my brother says there's a difference between dvd+rw and dvd-rw, that the + is more compatible with more dvd players. I hadn't heard this before, anyone else know?

Yes, the plus is slightly more compatible with older DVD players. New DVD players (purchased in the last year or so..if not a close out model) should be able to play either + or -.
