There seems to be a lot of people having trouble with Hypermart closing sites running UBB's. Can anyone recommend other good hosts that are either free or that only require a small fee? TIA [Linked Image]

I heard that Jumpworld was good at first, but lately for the last week or 2, that they've been having problems lately. I'm not exactly sure what the problem are, but I think one of them is about your site's url. I signed up with them about 1 month ago, it was perfect at first. But starting last week, it could not find my site anymore even though my account was still active (still is today too).....

Nope, F2S server has been full for awhile now. But if you're a member there already, then you're pretty lucky I guess. But they aren't accepting any more accounts at the moment....

Hey,

I'm using VirtualAve at the moment (and suffering their top banner) - I've got a weird feeling my site will be closed down soon too for being a UBB [Linked Image]

Hope it's just paranoia !!

If anyone does know of any good free hosts that give ya a cgi-bin and the ability to ftp I'd be eternally greatful [Linked Image]

Jumpworld was having problums with warez sites so they were making server changes to make it harder to have warez files on there servers, its fixed now. I THINK now when you sign up you get 1 mb of space...then you can send them an e-mail, and the'll give you 20 mb. They offer everything, and dont care about ubbs being on there site or any of that ****

Jumpworld is horrible, dont waste your time!

synx - why would you say that jumpworld is horrible, what kind of problem are you having with them? If that problem is fixed like CE is said, then I must agree and say that jumpworld is probably one of the best free hosts around.

MiShY69 - Yeah, its already against Virtualave's TOS to run a UBB there, and now that Hypermart won't allow that either good hosts for UBB are getting rare. Try checking out http://www.freewebspace.net for a list of free webhosts.

Am I the only one getting this error by any chance.
For some reason, I can't sign up with F2S. It always says some error with the Country I've chosen, whether it by USA or Canada, or even UK!
Just wondering, if this was just me.....

http://www.mycgiserver.com

Allows SSI as well as well as other java related stuff and sendmail. But only 2 mb though.
http://pcisd.com allows a 30 day-trial.
Posted By: Pyros Re: Free Hosts? - 11/02/2000 4:34 AM
Hmm....well I'm not really sure if 2mb is going to be enough for most UBBs, cause the files themselves are about 1 mb right?

Well, www.mycgiserver.com will not continue perl services, they say the will go to just java servlets. I have just signed up for www.surecity.com, hopefully will be good.
As far as F2S I have had 2 accounts will UBB's on them both, and where deleted.

Later,
