If you go to that above link. I have an AIM icon and entry to the left side of each post for that user. Well what I am needing help with is, how can I make that line only come up if they entered something in that field. (Similar to the Homepage Message Icon only showing if they entered in a homepage)

Just use that hack. I'm almost certain it does what you're wanting.
