UBB.Dev
Ok, i put my header in the header area, and footer in the footer area, but when i view my forum, the UBB goes under the header, and the links on the left are out of their tables.

Heres my board http://www.ps2-nation.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi

Please help me!

------------------
no problem... it is just a table problem. if you can send me the header and footer info, I can look at it for you...

i checked out your url... nice looking site... how do you want it to look different from what it looks like now? is the "latest news bar in the wrong place?

I checked it out again... you are running into a minimal width that the reply box has to be to be able to fit it all in.

My recommendation would be to keep the fixed width of your nav table on the left, but make the rest of it to the right (the part that includes your ubb) a variable that fills up the screen (make the overall table a percentage (like 95%) with the nav a set width (like 120px)) that would take care of your widths and keep it from looking too small on a larger monitor (anything 800x600 and up). That's the way this site is set up. If you must keep a fixed width, then make your site for a larger screen - a site I am working on does this, the site is 705 px wide...

I am not sure how you are getting larger fonts at the bottom of your screen... that should be taken care of in your style settings.. unless you have something weird working in a .css file or in your footer...

thanks, but i have seen sites that just move the message icons into smaller rows. How do i do this(ubbhackers.com does that with their board)

------------------
Thanks for your help Allen, but i went into some of the CGI files, and figured out what to do. I found how to change the number of smilies in a row, and how to resize the text field. My forum is now 100% operational!

Thanks

excellent! I hoped I helped at least in a small way... [Linked Image] It sounds like you may also want to look at the "next/prev" bar hack by nevex, if you like the way ubh looks...

I've notice that when I got up to your boards it columns looks a bit uneven. The forums seem mushed together. Is this just me?

They seemed a bit squashed to me also, that was why I recommended the relative widths instead of the fixed width.. they seem set for a 640x480 screen which really isn't used much anymore... relative widths would keep most happy tho...

Yeah unless your computer is too slow or your monitor can't take the heat (which I highly doubt that true these days) 800x600 is what I recommend (^_^)

I checked it out and apparently it's fixed to a 350 pixel width!!?!?!?!?!! Hmmmm... It's really hard to look at.

thats just a mistake. It is supposed to be 435. I never put it to 350, and its not at 350 when i like at it, so i havent changed it.

My moniter is set at 800 x 600, and this is what i see:

What I see

I dont think it looks squished. If it does to all of u, then ill change it, but i have no idea how to do this, as im confused on what many of u are trying to say.

Check the example code in the Tutorials (the link is on the left) ... you'll see the %'s in the table codes. HTH's. [Linked Image]

UBB recommends 600 if you are gonna use fixed widths... relative would still be a better choice...

how could that area not be "squished" Theres only a limited amout of space In my intregrated forum

------------------
Well I thought it was until you mentioned that integration. I looks a big on the short side though but I see what you mean. I'd line break the last post time and the last poster though, but it's up to you.

thanks for ur help

NP. But personally I'm switching over to vBulletin (well I switched awhile back). It doesn't slow down your server as much as a UBB would and the features are great.
http://www.vbulletin.com

I've noticed a lot of people switched over as well. It doesn't cost as much and with my license expiring awhile ago $40 is a big difference. Well C'Ya!
