We are redesigning our site. The original programmer is no longer with us. We want to restore all of the html files in the forums back to the original UBB look, without all the junk attached to it. Apparently, ubb writes an html file for each post, so it's pretty static. I am wondering if we could just reset something and rebuild the archives... Is there a way to do that, or are we stuck with it?

From the looks of it, you're using a pretty old version of UBB. I would suggest simply doing a complete upgrade to the latest version of UBB.

Another easy way is to upload a "clean" copy of UltBB.setup and Styles.file to your CGI directory. Just re-extract those files from your original .ZIP and upload them in ASCII.

An third method is to remove everything from the HEADER, FOOTER, and HEADER INSERT fields of your General Settings in the Control Panel. This will remove everything around the edges, but all your style (color) settings will remain.

After you've completed whichever method you choose, be sure to Update Threads from your control panel, so the threads all get the new (or is it old?) design.

This just in: the New York Police have just apprehended the person who let the dogs out.
My first thought would be to upgrade as well.. lots of improvements have been made and security holes patched since 5.39a...

My second thought would be to leave everything in the design as is, unless you are changing the overal design of the site, it looks nice and matches the rest of the site well...
