Oooo...Looking awesome Allen. That's quite a bit of work you did there.
Great work Allen! Do you need some help with the remaining parts?
Thank you
Sure, I think the remaining parts are what's found in the cgi files, regarding the pntf coloring and time/Posts:/names
Templates and css zips updated with bugfixes by LK
I'll need to do a file compare for instructions for how to do the .cgi changes, shouldn't be too bad
I'm going to start working on version 2 of CSS template changer, based on this template set
http://mods.lkworld.com/css65.zip - alpha version, is anyone willing to test?
Sure am, LK
Fantastic work Allen, hats off to you for finishing a job that I never even got halfway through with
thank you, I have done it a couple times (6.3 and 6.4)... so I had an idea where to go with it once started
Man, you mean i'mma have to edit my hypercells to work with css now? hehe, it'd take like 3 seconds though, I actually have it on UGN on our site "stats"... GJ though allen, you runnin that here? Any hope for a multihack?
I'll probably make an mhp if LK doesn't do it first
I'll wait in case there's a bugfix or 2 to add in.
We've been running a version of this since 6.3
I am sure this sounds dopey to you folks
- but what is the advantage of this?
CSS is
extremely useful these days, Ed. You can edit an unbelieveable amount of information on your pages by changing just a few lines of CSS code, such as colours, image sources, page backgrounds... It's really useful.
You could also use it for style rotators, if you have the time...
It reduces bandwidth and download times as well, making your site zippier and reducing the expenses a bit

LK is working on that
Check the link he posted earlier in this thread

I'm gonna convince the head of the my boards to test this (I'm trying to get him to let me have a test board for the hacks). If it does work, where would I get other CSS templates? I know I can make my own, but are there other ones already made?
Other CSS templates? You mean other enhancements for Allen's CSS templates, or the regular modifications changed to work with AllenTemplates? (or other CSS versions of templates?)
css65.zip updated - ubb_lib.cgi NOSCRIPT line changed; added instructions at top of css.txt; renamed "css.zip" to "css65.zip"
Allen, can you please make the MHK file?
Also may I post the version which includes your templates in 6.5 beta forum? (if you wish, you can post it yourself there, including my css style changer cause you made the difficult part, so you deserve most credit)
Thanks for all the input but isn't this done through the "Style" settings?
Allen, I'm having a few problems using this inside an existing CSS file; I pasted the stuff from the Frost example CSS file into my existing file and edited it to change the colours, but it won't work. Am I doing anything wrong?
And you wouldn't mind giving us a URL?
Sorry, sorry, but it wouldn't be much help anyway
CSS file:
http://www.iphq.co.uk/styles/purple.css UBB:
http://www.iphq.co.uk/65cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi (The UBB will only be there until I have the CSS templates fully working, then it will be gone; it's basically just a test board at the moment)
they could be conflicting (the css colors)
LK, feel free to post it in the beta forum, I am outta town until tomorrow night
I should be able to make the mhp tomorrow night
CTM, uhh, this board doesn't have CSS templates
so it only uses the CSS file for stuff like background color, text color, etc and not for the rest.
...That would explain a lot
Thanks
Cool
now can you please test the CSS style changer? (also it'd be better for you to test it as soon as possible because many template files and frost css file are different, so you don't have to beyond compare them, just overwrite; and also it has some bugfixes and additions to allen's css templates: for example in your board, in topic page the "Posts: X" and poster names are in black, and in the css style changer templates + cgi changes it's in your text color)
Sure... It'll take an hour to finish messing with the CSS templates, then I'll get right on with installing the style changer
Also, one other thing I meant to ask, LK... Could you list the changes I need to make to my live board just to squash the bugs in the templates? (ie. PDNs, post counts in black, etc.)
The PDN/post counts bug: in frost.css I added a new class (I forgot its name), and also I think it's somewhere in ubb_lib_posting.cgi. (in css.txt instructions) Basically look at every step in css.txt instruction file, and if you think it's for the css style template changer don't change it, if it looks like it's for css compatibility modify.
All done... Cheers LK
The demo should be up and running in a day or two, after I've finished upgrading my live board...
BTW you know, in the css style template changer, you can also choose to change the images (bb title, new topic, new reply, new poll, edit post, pm, print topic, and many others) per set.
::pounds on table:: MHK, MHK!
...
I can't make one until my pc gets fixed, hopefully in the next day
Still a couple of bugs in public_common and public_forum_page, and also public_edit_profile, IIRC... Mainly to do with time text
Allen, have you updated the zip with LK's fixes? I'd love to get this working perfectly cause it's such a great idea
yeh, and a mhk :x... ::streaches:: I just love torturing Allen...
