First, congrats to all who worked on getting the UBB 6.1 set to go ... uh, well, beyond BETA. How's that for not saying "gold," Charles? wink tipsy

My messageboard is currently -- Ultimate Bulletin Board 6.04d. I deliberately delayed waiting to upgrade it whatsoever because I didn't think it'd take a couple of months for the final version of 6.1 (hey, I'm new to this idea of seeing upgrades happening before my eyes!).

So, I have a couple of questions.

  • My board currently has several hacks (anchor, avatar, hits, message icons, stars)--is it wrong to assume that these will be lost in the upgrade?
  • I've been watching the progress of the beta 6.1 hacks; should they be declared "gold" before I install them into the upgraded board?

I certainly don't want to lose features that my board users and I have enjoyed for any length of time, so before I start the upgrade process, I would like an idea of what potential headaches I should look for, etc.

Thanks!

Yes, I as well would like to know if I have a hacked pub 6.1 pub 1.4 do I have to re hack everything? Or is there a way to upgrade without rehacking? Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to say but you will. Your uploading all new files to your cgi and template folder. Also if you do choose to upgrade you'll only be able to install hacks for 6.1 and cant install any earlier hacks because of the xhtml coding!
