Name: UBB™ Thinking Clock.
Description: Shows a ticking clock with both UBB and local time.

Text File or MultiHack File Demo:
http://www.lkubb.dns2go.com Requirement: UBB™ 6.2.0 Beta Release 1.0 To get it to work with 6.1.0, just remove &Template sub and instead of %%stuff%%, use "+local+" or "+server+".
hey I've already go that
didnt work on 6.1.0.3, going to try again...
in public_forum_summary.pl, the java script edit creates a conflict with the lightbulbs, and they wont show up, same for the clock.
Could someone please adapt this hack to UBB6.1.0.x? Its a good hack, but I cant seem to make it work on 6.1.0.3...

ooooo spiffy...
Thanks for this improvement really great job. COntinue the good work
Found a bug, fixed a bug. Rehack public_forum_summary.pl.
I can't find the vars_wordlets_mods.cgi. I searched in the cgibin and in templates and nowhere to be found.
Really useful, I used it on the UBB at JCF
LK, could you please make UBB6.1.0.3 Thinking Clock 4 dumies instructions

Hi, I tried to install this, but it won't show up. I only get 1 border and error's on the page. For a link, its
http://www.animegamerz.com/ultimatebb.cgi .
Also, how do I get vars_wordlet_mods.cgi to be reconized?
Don't use +2 in the GMT offset, use just 2 (without the +).
Ok, I've done that and it still doesn't work. I think its the Clocks border, but I can't tell...
I don't know if it matters, but you accidently pasted it twice:

Ugh, nope, that doesn't do anything... I'll start all over hacking it.
Remove the 2nd instance of:

If it doesn't work, try to remove the JavaScripts from the footer and tell me if it fixes it.
ugh, I know I probally sound annoying, but how do I do that? I've rehacked it and it still doesn't work...
Open CP - Style Templates - choose template - Footer. Try to cut everything there, if it works, paste and tell me it works, if not.. hmm.. paste and tell me it doesn't
Yeah, that worked. I deleted it right away though because it didn't look to good, but it did show up.
Lk,
I installed your hack on a clean 6.2 and the time does not show up. I placed the offset in the control panel but that only lets the light bulbs be shown. The time area is still a thin line?
How can I help if you already removed it?
Nope I was recoding it incase I made a mistake which I did not. I see your there looking around it is back and same mistake again. I will await your fix
The problem lies in the wordlets I will tell you that much. I am trying to fix it but everything I do does not work.
I finally got it. I see alot of people are having problems with the same thing one way or another. I don't know exactly what I did but it was the hardest time I ever had updating the mod wordlets file. Every time it kept emptying it out. I finally got it to go through. Nice Hack
I had the same problem, please post your solution.
Where can I find the Mod Wordlets file? I tried this site,
http://dpk.b000.net , but apparently it's closed.
Thanks in advance!
Hi LK

I'm trying on 6.1.0.3 and I cannot find &Template sub or %% in any of the edited files. Where can I find these?
Thanks
Rainner
my $option1 = &Template($vars_wordlets_mods{time_localboard}, {
USERTIME => '"+local+"',
SERVERTIME => '"+server+"'
});
my $option2 = &Template($vars_wordlets_mods{time_current}, {
TIME => '"+local+"'
});
And the Wordlets have %%stuff%%.
Hi Lk,
Sorry ot bother you again. I now removed from public_forum_summary.pl:
quote:
my my $option1 = &Template($vars_wordlets_mods{time_localboard}, {
USERTIME => '"+local+"',
SERVERTIME => '"+server+"'
});
my $option2 = &Template($vars_wordlets_mods{time_current}, {
TIME => '"+local+"'
});
And replaced the %%stuff%% in vars_wordlets_mods.cgi quoted below:
quote:
'time_localboard' => "Your Time: %%USERTIME%%. Board's Time: %%SERVERTIME%%",
'time_current' => "Current Time: %%TIME%%",
to:
'time_localboard' => "Your Time: +local+. Board's Time: +server+",
'time_current' => "Current Time: +time+",
Is this correct?
Thanks
Rainner
No, use '+stuff+' (with '')
i don't know if this is correct but i replace
thelement.innerHTML = (local != server) ? "$option1" : "$option2";
with
thelement.innerHTML = (local != server) ? "Your Time: "+local+". Board's Time: "+server+"" : "Current Time: "+local+"";
it's seem to be working ok on 6.1.0.3
LK, the javascript that you ask to add the public_forum_summary.pl creates a conflict with the lightbulbs. If I separate the scripts in two and lightbulbs work, but the clock still wont show up.
I am trying to install this on ubb6.1.0.3...could you help me somehow?
I'm having the same problem as Unnamed. Lights go away and the clock dosn't show. I thought it was because I wasn't getting the previous problem corrected properly.
Rainner
Here are the error messages I received when I installed it on a test 6.2.1 test board> The outline of the table shows, but no script, and the lights go away:
1) For line beginning var session_dt - Warning 5001, global variable "session_dt" already defined in global scope
2) For line beginning var session_j - Warning 5001, global variable "session_j" already defined in global scope
3) For line beginning var_pacif=check 24 - error 1005, expressioin expected
Thank you for replying. I was able to fix the javascript so that the lightbulbs now work. However, the clock is not working yet. The test board is at
http://www.karass.nu/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi I would appreciate any suggestions you can offer.
Don't change *anything*, I want to see what's the problem.
anybody knows how to change it so it'll appear like in
www.netwerkin.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi ?
Yeah i want it in an input box, if i'll change that in the wordlet it'll do it like on netwerkin?
or i need to change stuff in the code too?
I dont have the file fadr.js
where can i get it????
It's only if you have News Fader, if you don't, ignore that step.
Hm...got it! but where can i find this hack? i saw your ubb and i really liked it
It's still not working on my page. When I view the html source, what's happening is that the script for the clock is in the body section, rather than the head. How can I put it in the right place?
Hm...got it! But where can i find this hack anyway? i saw your forum and i really liked it!
I'm having a odd problem. Installed the hack and it seems to display and work fine. (6.2.1 beta 1) However, the display shows 'My time' and 'Board time' to be exactly 12 hours apart (AM vs. PM) The time on both the workstation and the server are set correctly to the current time, but still the AM/PM switcheroo.
I went to the server and changed the system time to AM from PM and cleared cache but the problem persists. I'm thinking I hacked it wrong, now.
http://bbs.balsamlake.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi Any help is appreciated. This one's a real noodle scratcher for me...
Dirk
You set GMT offset to 6... Shouldn't it be -6?
LK, this is a great hack. I want the output right under the login/logout but it's now in it's own table.
www.cyberty.nl How can i do this?
The GMT offset on our board isn't correct i guess.
You set GMT offset to 6... Shouldn't it be -6?
Yes, it should. I read the post about not needing the '+' sign in front of positive offsets and naturally assumed that you wouldn't need a '-' sign for negative ones either.
Some days I think I should get checked by a doctor....
Thanks for the help,
Dirk
Anyway I can add more than 2 times? I.E try to make my own modification for private use? Do I just have to add the (for example:)
CP_VARS_TIME:
&RegField("Australian Time Zone Offset", "AUSOffset", "", "3", "4", "Same as above, but the offset from AUS. Used in UBB Thinking Clock.", "$vars_time{AusOffset}");
CP_LIB:
my $AUSOffset = &SmallClean($in{AUSOffset});
and
'AUSOffset' => $AUSOffset,
VARS_WORDLET_MODS:
'time_localboard' => "Your Time: %%USERTIME%%. Board's Time: %%SERVERTIME%%. Australian Time: %%AUSTIME%%",
But I have no idea what to do with Public Topic Page, if infacxt, the above is correct....
Any help? Or is that so far right? I'm a newbie, help appreciated....
I don't understand..... do you mean YOU think there is no need for it? Or there actually isn;t any use for it?
Because regardless of YOUR choice, I don't wish to be cheeky, its great hack, but I'd wish for a few more times on it...... so everyone know what time it is in a certain place, being the topic of my test forums, its pretty essential I have this, if you can;t help me, fine, just say.
Thanks for any further help, C.
I mean there is no need to hack cp_vars_time.pl and cp_lib.cgi. Australian Time == always +10, regardless of the server time.
So how do I add it as well as the other times? You see LK, what I mean by my private addon, is try to replicate kind of World time hack, so there is various times. Not just the ones included/can be shown. I.E. the third world countries etc.
Sorry if I sounded a bit stressed over last post....kinda had a bad day, sorry mate
Like instead of:
Or something like that...
where do i get news fader?
LK, I'm having a problem with the multhack version. I'm trying to install it on a 6.2.1 board, but when I analyze it, it gives an error for the file cp_vars_time.pl. Do you know whats wrong?
Oops, updated
Heh, mine didn't show up..
I was getting a little error on the HTML page (page showed, though) and I installed via TXT and Multihack. I have installed News Fader..
Any ideas?
I redownloaded it, but I still get the same error.
I have the same problem, and I've isolated it to the fact that the "onload" portion isn't showing up in the html code. Could you please check this portion of the modification:
ubb_forum_summary.cgi - the modifications to that file
Because that's where I believe there is an error.
I removed it from my board cause it was a big ugly table, but the "onload" portion did not appear in the html source after the background color, font color, etc. as it was supposed to. The javascript portion was fine, but it did not load.

Ellen did you go into the cp to Date & Time Settings and set the GMT Time Zone Offset?
installed without a hitch.
I would also like to know how to modify the layout so that i can display each time within different cells of a table.
If thats not clear take a look at my home page. I want to left align "Your Time" and Right Align "PTCO Time"
Ive attempted to insert the necessary html directly into the mod wordlet but it generates the errors with the lightbulb javascript so many people seem to have trouble with.

Although I do have News Fader installed, I would like to use the
ubb_forum_summary.cgi approach, rather than the
fader.js approach.
Now, I did try it.. But, it didn't work. And that's probably the very reason why you give the 2 different approaches. Unfortunately, my understanding of why.. is zero. Thus, the silly question.
Why do I want something so silly? Quiet a few of our users use Netscape or Opera. And
fader.js does not load/run in either of those browsers and, of course, the clock doesn't load either.
Thanks..
I think newsfader works in Opera/Netscape, and if it doesn't, so you can either make your whole site work with Opera - remove newsfader, or make it not work with Opera - leave newsfader/ubb thinking clock alone.
Thanks LK.. (I think).
Fader does work? May I PM you on this?
News Fader works -> fader.js works -> this hack works

Erm.. sorry my intent wasn't to say or even suggest that this hack or News Fader didn't work.
They are both good & fully functional hacks.
I've probably made some sort of mistake in the implementation or something.. I did post to the News Fader topic a while back. But, it wasn't answered. I certainly didn't mean to cause any trouble, I was merely looking for help. Thus the PM suggestion. Sorry.
No trouble, you should post if you got a problem
I'm only saying that it should work if you'll install with fader.js, and if it doesn't, gimme the URL with both newsfader and ubbthinkingclcok and I'll try to use Mozilla on it.
OK, thanks..
Here's the URL
http://www.morelerbe.com/cgi-bin/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi Users using almost any browser, except MSIE, have reported actual errors with fader.js.
Got your first MSIE report
Your fader.js doesn't seem to be hacked
It isn't?
I'm looking at a View Source (from MSIE6) of the page now & I can see the GetTime() call in there (which is from fader.js), is that what you mean?
I just downloaded fader.js from the site (just in case) & it does seem to be in the right place..

.. unless, of course, I've done something really silly.
This is a great hack and I'd love to be able to use it but for some reason it's not showing up on my main page
The BB ver. is 6.2.1.1
http://www.needforbetterspeed.net/forum/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi I hope someones knows what I'm doing wrong. I have configured it in the CP but still nothing. Thanks in advance
bjd, from /ubb/fader.js?
Aca, blame the menus. Don't ask me how to fix it, just search for 'onload' in the JS files, and when you'll find it, in that sub add GetTime();.

Yes, from the NONGCI directory. Do you want me send you the whole thing (fader.js).. would that help?
LK
Extra information..
I do now have the clock working with Netscape. The problem was not with Netscape.. But, it seems to be with Sun's JRE (1.2 & 1.4) that I was using with Netscape (the very same JRE that I use with Opera). The problem with the clock is Sun's JRE specific. The problem with the News Fader is seen in both Opera & Netscape (regardless of which JRE is used).
Should I post the error that Sun's JRE produces?
Thanks..
Details can't hurt..
BTW, when I remove 'www.' from your URL I can see the GetTime() line, but I still can't see the clock

Here you go (this is from Opera using Sun's JRE)..

Sorry, I'm not sure what that means.
this doesn't work on 6.2.1!!!
LK >
i seen the question more times here before.
i dont have the output of the clock on my site. only the thin small table.
how can i fix this.
also i was Missing the vars_wordlets_mods.cgi file..
i couldnt find it. so i created it myself and place the words in it in the same format as the other wordlet files. didnt help also.
could you take a look please??
regards
RaiDeN
http://www.kutforum.nl/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
btw i have used the TXT option wich cointains +local+ in it.. but i have version 6.2
but i dont know what to change to get it working
thx
What might help:
1 Clear cache using cp-->Maintenance
2 Set offset value using cp-->Date and time settings
quote:
GMT Time Zone Offset:
Same as above, but the offset from GMT. Used in UBB Thinking Clock.
3 Change your own time-zone (local)
You have to install Mod Wordlets!
and how do i do that??
installing mod_wordlets ??
sory but i can seem to find the vars_wordlets_mod installation there.
can someone be a bi tmore specific please
thx
Now i tried everything that people sugguested in this topic to get the clock working but still no luck
offcourse are the modification wordlets installed and all, but my forum still shows a thin line like ppl said here before..
Plz take a look at my forum and tell me whats wrong
You used "'++SERVERTIME++'", "'++USERTIME++'" and "'++TIME++'" instead of "%%SERVERTIME%%", "%%USERTIME%%" and "%%TIME%%". That means, %% instead of ++ and NO ''.
I tread that then i saw on page 4 of this topic (i think) dat ++ may help but it didnt and the %% thing doesnt also
I have no idea, it seems to even cause problems in news fader
1. not that it matters, but I suggest you to put it where I suggested to in the text file (inside
