fixed the dependencies bug
added a truncate option to cp
fixed some little other things

As long as you haven't any problems with Stats Hack and as long as you don't want the new features, there is no need to upgrade.

Yeah i know. My new board is 6.20. But i allready found it out. Little mistake in the vars_wordlets_mod install with the statshack (my fault)

The stats hack also broke the poll feature in my forums

No biggie - I reverted all the modified files back but now the recent visitors doesn't show up on the forum summary anymore!

Oh well... here's to 6.2 going production!

It is possible but it would require to read out each member file and compare all birthdays. That would cause an enormous increase of processor load and is not recommended.

If you didn't test PNTF/Polls before installing stats hack, you should make sure it's enabled in the cp.

Just installed this hack on 6.2, didnt miss a step, cleared cache etc, but the statistics table etc doesnt appear on the ultimatebb.cgi page when you load it. I can configure it through the CP ok, but it just doesnt get displayed for people to see. Do I need to "turn it on" somewhere in the CP, or is there an obvious reason why its not appearing. I cleared the cache many times.

I seem to be having the same problem Embercidal had/has. I've went through all the steps the instructions said and rehacked the ubb_forum_summary.cgi and public_forum_summary.pl but still can't get it to work. I've also cleared my cache plenty of times, (not to mention rebooted do to getting bluescreened grr) also ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=statistics works.

Take a clean copy of ubb_forum_summary.cgi and of public_forum_summary.pl then go slowly through the instructions, step by step and make it definitely sure that you read the instruction correctly. Do not mix up add below and add above. Then simply do the things you read and clear the cache. Then it will work.
Dozens of people did it before and they had no problem, so it must be you who had made the mistake.

I suggest you to verify that you've hacked it all correctly. You should look into vars_wordlets_mods.cgi and at "add directly after it: # Copy the space, too!".

I can't understand why it's not working! Well I know the stats are working, just not showing on the main page.

Well, I can't access adt-online.com but I think your problem is a known one. That's why I already implemented a bug fix.

Wioew, I have so many errors that I just don't know where to begin

1) ?ubb=statistics = page not found
2) ?ubb=statistics_ssi = page not found
3) the table screwed up, I know that you can edit it in your cp (I also read the faq

Thank you, I now have acces to the cp, and ?ubb=statistics(_ssi) works. But the table is still screwed up. And whatever I change, nothing happens. And yes, I cleared the cache after every try.

I moved my homepage to another server. The link is working again, but do not use UBB.Tovok7.de this isn't working anymore. Use http://Tovok7.de instead.

I'm not sure if it's just an option I have'nt activated but I've noticed that when I installed this hack on my board, it has removed the Recent Visitors Feature (new one with 6.2.1) from the top. I'm not sure the exact line that calls this but is there a way to put it back?

Otherwise the hack works great.

Oh and by the way your Multihack 2.0 File link on your site does not work (your mirror site that is).

Tovok, I think you should just make the multihack or take the link off the page, You have had to say several times that there is no multihack file for this version. (unless of course, you have made it and the link really is down)

I know, I am just as guilty as others, I posted before I looked back through the previous post to find out if this had been reported. I guess we all are bad about assuming we are the only one that has the problem we are reporting

The zip file for this hack does not include the vars_statistics.cgi file ... is this something I can use from my main board? I hope so!

Okay, in the FWIW area, I found a Multihack file for the "old" Stats ... the version 1.05

I uploaded it to http://adwoff.com/Stats_hack.mhp

I did not make any changes to it. I installed it, chmoded stuff, cleared the cache, went to the control panel and turned on options, opened the board, and everything seems to be in working order.

I was working on a Multihack file for the version 1.1, and it installed extremely well to the control panel.

I did all the steps I listed above, opened my board, and I discovered a syntax error.

I went back and tried to fix the syntax error, reopened the board, and it was a blank screen.

Anyone else have that experience? And if you did, how did you conquer it?

I wouldn't mind installing the newer version, but to be completely honest, the text file--near the end--was extremely difficult to read. It was mixed up; it had hyperlinks. (I don't know enough about the code to make sure everything was set up properly; if someone would like to look at that Multihack file to see how close it was to being good, PM me.)

I also have know idea if the version 1.05 is compliant with the accelerator or with the "recent visitors" or the WOL list hack.

I downloaded the zip file from your website earlier. I opened it. In my .cgi file, I had two files -- cp_statistics.cgi & ubb_statistics.cgi

Okay ... I see where it was ... in the variables file.

My apologies. I don't have a separate folder for my variables w/my .cgi files, so I never even thought to look in there.

I certainly wasn't trying to be malicious when I said what I said.

Installed the hack and everything seems to look OK, but the "last post by" section does not work, it shows a post from 6 days ago and will not change.

It's working correctly, but there's a problem with your UBB. If Last Post isn't shown in forum summary when it's not in statistics.

Ummmm, Could you expand on that a bit? What is wrong with the UBB?

Just wondering about something. Lately my board has been receiving some occasional disk full type of messages.

The first time it happened it was definitely because I needed to change the config set-up with my server host, which I did.

But last night, about eight users reported the following type of error to me:

Could not perform buffered print to '/(I've truncated up to this part...) /ubb/cache-VP4YBBSQ/ubb_files/counter/2002-03-dynamic.cgi'. The disk is out of space - I was unable to write a new file. Please ask the administrator to contact the web hosting provider. The exact error returned by the operating system is: No space left on device

Now I definitely have it set up with my server that I still have space (about 150 Megs of storage and they also monitor files and I have about 6500 left there). I can't guarantee they do have the server space they claim I still can use, but my question is about the specific error message.

It looks like it's trying to write some file based on the counter and I didn't know if that's part of the default UBB page views counter or might be related to this Mod (which I use and really like). I don't want my board to generate errors just because of either the built-in counter tool or this Mod so if that's the case I'll probably try to disable them for the time-being.

Anyway, any suggestions to why this type of error message might have shown up?

This should have nothing to do with this hack. Try to upload a one megabyte file to your server and check the file permissions.

Installed stats 1.05 over 6.2.1 works great no probs - don't think Ill upgrade till the MH comes out - txt file looks too hard

My question, would there be a way to exclude a specific IP?

The amount of time my 2 sons and I spend there (3 pc's thru ICS and cable) we're probably clocking up most of the page views.

i upgraded from 1.1 to 1.2, still no recent visitors.

The file public_pntf_admin.pl is a template and first introduced in version UBB v6.2 which is required for Stats Hack 1.2

I just upgraded to 1.2 from 1.1, and now posts in private forums show up in the Statistics panel. If I remember right, that didn't happen in 1.1

Also, 1.1 the total member count would not update when you delete members.

Actually, pntf_admin was added to 6.2.1

Ok i installed it, and it displays subject lines from private forums. I have 1.2.

When you turn off that option (last reply and the two other things) it messes up the math done for "Average Posts per day". Originally (With reply on) average posts was 671, when i turn the last reply off, it goes to 2071.

I also tried putting the truncate to 0, but it stills says 5 letters into the subject of any private post. If i could get it to say "Last Reply by SoandSo in "..."" that would be great, but its not letting me do that..

After installing this hack, I couldn't add any events to my calendar, I kept on getting a message that the file did not exist.
I had to rehack ultimatebb.cgi using the text file instructions for the calendar hack v2.0.
After doing this, the Stats hack did not work, I just got a blank table at the bottom of the page.
I re-hack ultimatebb.cgi using the text file for the Stats hack 1.2. I originally used the multihack version and I guess this is what caused my calendar to malfunction, somehow after installing this Stats hack some of the calendars entries in the ultimatebb.cgi were erased.
After re-hacking the ultimatebb.cgi Stats and Calendar coexists happily in my forum.

I've installed the Stats Hack and it seems to work except it doesn't show a text link for the statistics on the forum summary page and all the text that should accompany the statistics is also missing on the forum summary page...Any ideas?

I wrote a bugfix but I'm not gonna release it before I've no answer from Sarvoth Talem about another bug which I want to fix within the next version.

Meanwhile you can install v1.2 and use LK's fix from above. Stay tuned...

ok, i have 6.2.0, this is how it went:

i installed 1.1, but never did the 6.2 beta 1+ part down at the bottom, clear cached, and recent visitors dissapeared. ran the board a little, then upgraded to 1.2, later to realized i was missing a file, still ran with 1.2 even though file missing, since i have 6.2.0.

but i really needed recent visitors. so, uninstalled 1.2, then 1.1, clear cached, and recent visitors still not showing?? then installed 1.1 again, the whole file this time, and still not there?

can anyone help me on this issue?

in cp its enabled, but it doesnt show up at all, and when i did the IM hack, it says recent visitors not enabled.

anyone? i would REALLY appreciate your help.

BIG question here - maybe I already know the answer

I'm giving 6.3 a "shakedown" as a test board and with JC's mods it's very nice.

Problem is that my two favourite hacks (along with UBBNews), are Stats 1.2 and IM, and neither the multihack nor zip can be applied - (for people with my skills at least)

The problem seems to be with ultimatebb.cgi and ubb_lib.cgi for Stats; and ubb_lib.cgi and ubb_lib_files.cgi for IM. I've waded through the zip with both and tried a few things but without any success.

The board is sitting nicely in the background and looking great, but I don't want to put it to work just yet if it's possible that I can apply these hacks beforehand.

Any chance of you guys having a peek and letting me know?? - pretty pleeze

ubb_lib.cgi - hack public_common.pl instead.
ubb_lib_files.cgi - replace '-e' with '&FileExists(........)'
ultimatebb.cgi - I don't know, just don't hack that part, I guess

"-e" appears 13 times - replace them all with EXACTLY what you wrote?

I don't understand how hacking a template instead of a cgi file will do anything, and surely by NOT editing ultimatebb.cgi, won't that bring the hack down??

Sorry - but sadly I'm a copier not a coder and since you guys obviously have a lot going on . . . perhaps it's best if I wait until 6.3 is more mainstream and the hacks get updated.

The problem ist, that in the memberslist.cgi after every new registration there is a blank line between the last 2 Members and so it counts wrong!

hab ich auch - aber ich glaub das ist bei nächsten version behoben - muß man eigentlich nur in der formel -1 reintackern und fertig- warte mal bis tovok7 die neue version online hat.

The so called "bug" isn't caused by Stats Hack! Please rebuild the member stats files and look if there is still one member too much.

Are the pageview stats CPU intensive or do they avoid that because they're already enabled to show as default in the control panel? Should I turn them off or?

It depends on how long you've your board online. It needs to open and read out three files for every month, so if you've 10 months UBB has to open 30 files and this is kinda much and CPU intensive.
You need to evaluate this and decide by yourself cos a normal view of an average topic can also require 30 file openings and is very often more load intensive.

Ok, I'm going to upgrade to 6.2.1.3 from 6.2.1.1 and was wondering how i can upgrade the scripts and keep the statistic amounts that are already there and growing? Any suggestions?

At the same time...I just started getting this error on my board today. The last time I added a hack was about 3 weeks ago. "Bad name after a000282' at /services/webpages/1/0/100contests.com/public/forum/cache-8G4PUDU3/search_index/daily_index-2452387-main.cgi line 149."

Does anybody know why this might be happening? I've cleared my cache...resbuilt the search index...rebuilt the forum stats files... and still nothing.

Along the same lines as BigCityChris -

Given that I had a javascript menu problem with 6.2.1 (in then header insert), I decided to perform a clean install with 6.3, just holding on to all member and post data. I’m holding a complete back-up from immediately before the install.

Well the young guys who’s band I set up the site for are looking to attract a little sponsorship from a crowd who are keen to see numbers (hits) increasing and I managed to “lose” their first 40 days data. (LOTS of hits)

Since I’m looking to re-install the “stats hack” soon, I wondered if there is a way to “restore” the first 8 weeks worth of stats and add that data to current stuff before I apply the hack?

Would my first stop be the (counter) data in the backed up cache?

Any help much appreciated.

Just copy the counter files from the cache dir into the new directory. Btw, these numbers are not the hits, but the page views. This is something different.

What exactly is the difference between a hit and a page view? - I've never really known . . .

Also - any idea when a 6.3 "friendly" version of 1.2 will be available? (preferably mhp)- LK gave me some basic advice a couple of weeks ago but I struggled with it.

A page view is counted every time a url including ultimatebb.cgi is opened. So even if you open the faq or the search or a topic. The hit number gives you an idea how many times a special page (forum home f.ex.) was opened.

I hope the answer to this is a s simple as the page views was.

I'v managed to get 1.2 working with 6.3 and JC's templates, everything is fine except "this board was set up XXX days ago" is now only picking up the number of days since my upgrade to 6.3

Not surprising since I did a clean install.

Is it possible to modify a file and adjust the number of days to reflect the actual number of days since the board's first install? (I need to add about 34 days)

I have no idea where to look for this, it doesn't seem to be in the counter or any part of the cache.

The date is encrypted in the CookieNumber and it's not easy changeable.

But then everybody will be logged out, so I wouldn't recommend that

I didn't put it there. Glue didn't use version 1.2 this topic is for. He used version 1.3 which isn't compatible with UBB version < 6.3
