Hello all. I'm very new at script editing and things of the sort. I am a network admin who has been converted to run our message board.

My question is this, is there a way to preserve your hack so that upgrades do not completely overwrite it? I only ask because there seems to be a lot of little upgrades. I want my board to be up to date but hate the fact that I have to sit and rehack the code over and over again. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

With minor upgrades use Beyond Compare . For major ones, dont try. smile

Impossible. Upgrading is just replacing file with new code in them, to fix bugs and stuff. When you upload the upgrade, the hacks aren't in the file anymore. The only thing to do is rehack those files, or do it the way some people do and use Beyond Compare to do it.

Beyond Compare is a life-saver...:)

Except for the upgrade from 5.47e to 6, we've used BC to upgrade every version here since 5.45... after a while you get good at it and can do the upgrade in a matter of minutes...
