I'm slowly copying and pasting stories from my old forum to my new forum.

I thought I'd logout as administrator, register as a member under an author's name, then copy and paste the author's stories, then log back in as administrator and delete the member. That way when the actual author came by to register, he or she could, with their own password, email address, etc.

But I tested it and it didn't work. Even though I deleted the member, no one could re-register as that member.

Is there anyway around this? Now the author's name is apparently unre

if you are using v6.0+, it reserves names to keep people from trying to be an imposter...

Rebuilding the member stat files will wipe out the public name history file and rebuild it from the current list, which should allow him to reuse it...

Maybe it doesn't delete the Member file from the Members directory. If it's still there (His member number) Delete it and see what happens.
