Hi,
I'm new to ubb and want to try some of the multihacks. I have v6.3.0 installed on my windows box working fine. I read some of the questions in this forum regarding what to do when installing a multihack and downloaded the program and a few multihacks I wanted to try. I 'think' I set up the software right, giving it a copy of my board files and also a directory to dump the updated files. I ran the software and tried to use ELY_M's upload multihack, it seemed to go ok. This created a few new files in my updated files directory. So, I then copied these over the top of my existing board files (was this right??) and overwrote them. I thought this would put the hacks in, but when I go into my control panel, there is nothing anywhere regards to uploads (nothing in Miscellaneous Settings) and there is nothing in the posts on the board to upload anything ???

Can someone give me a pointer to what I'm doing wrong??

Any help appreciated

Mors

**Edit**
Multihack analyze says that cp_modaddon.cgi and vars_wordlets_mods.cgi were not found ???

You need to install the CP Modification and Modification Wordlets hacks.

They are pretty common, so it's a good idea to install them.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
I installed the ultimatebb_mod_wordlets_install.cgi (v1.6) which seemed to go fine then I used the modaddon.mhp . Now when I try and use the upload hack it throws up an errror when it attempts to do something with the vars_wordlets_mods.cgi (which is there) it just comes up with the very undescriptive 'ERROR:' .

Can anyone help me with this??

Any help appreciated

Mors

**EDIT**

Right, I managed to figure out what was wrong with the vars_wordlets_mods.cgi 'ERROR:' and edited the hack file to go through. BUT, now the hack is installed all I get is an option in the CP to activate uploads, but nothing in the misc area to configure it, nor anything on the board to attach anything ??
Does this hack work? I've had a look in the 6.3 beta forum and a lot of people are struggling to get it to work frown

This is why i always recomend doing the hacking yourself.

Well I'd make sure you hack it manually before you say it doesn't work.

I've hacked it manualy and it does work work smile To a degree smile The option to add an attachment now appears on the submit new post form, and it it opens up a new form to browse for a file etc, but when I try and add one it comes up with a bad path error, saying I need to set it in the CP, but, there is no where to set it in the CP, only an option to turn it on/off frown Where would the config options be??

Thanks

Sorted it mr Dexter.
The config settings were in the 'modification settings' in the 'primary settings' drop-down incase anyone wonders.
All works fine now.
Hope this helps someone else smile

so we're better off not using multihack?

2 seperate issues... mors didn't know where to look to see where the settings were in the control panel. In the hands of someone who pays attention to what they are doing, mhk works very well. smile

ah, okay... thanks!

I've started with some small manual hacks so far, trying to get the hang of things before I move upwards. smile

True, two seperate issues. I wouldn't say for or against multihack, because I have not had enough experience of using this software. All I was saying was that I got it to work hacking manualy smile
And it did not work at all under the multihack method, not just the control panel config.
I don't think there was any need for the 'In the hands of someone who pays attention to what they are doing, mhk works very well' comment, as is this not the short discription of this forum:

'Here our motto is, even the dumbest question will be answered. Even if you are experienced and want to ask a basic question - simply ask, and you will be helped. Absolutely NO FLAMING! This forum is for learning. '

And seeing as multihack does not exactly come with the most definitive user guide (but not the worst I've seen!) I think there was no need.
I will skip away from the flaming if thats quite ok smile

Thanks for the help smile

well, mors, it's my turn to feel stupid about multihack.

However, I've noticed some oddities, and guess I should ask. So, for some info, I used the full install Multihack, and my machine is running WinXP Home.
I can only seem to import hacks by double clicking them in Explorer, and half the time I get an error doing that.

Anyway I got the mod hack and the wordlets hack from LKs page, and found I had to edit the wordlets hack a bit before installing it. Of course, when I upload the mod hack alone, in order to go one step at a time, it breaks the board. And yep, I have checked the chmods.

(It's not a major issue because yes, I fully backed up the board before playing with it, so I just toss back in the original files and the board runs again.)

Is there an updated MH version of those hacks for 6.0.3.1?

[EDIT: the mods hack analyzes just fine, but doesn't seem to work once it's in.

The edit I made to the wordlets hack was changing the bits related to ultimatebb.cgi. The insert from

Code
[/code]I changed to

Code
</pre></div></div>and I changed the replace code from finding<br><br><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>
to finding

Code
</pre></div></div>and then making it<br><br>[code]
I think that's right. Is it?
