UBB.Dev

Why, when I tried to get to the mods forum for ubbthreads at www.ubbdev.com was I brought here? Do you have their new home address?

Thanks.

Because Threadsdev.com's admin created a competitive board, he decided to kick out all the UBBDev'ers and Infopoppers from Threadsdev, and stop the affiliation with our site with no apparent reason.

In order to complete the take-over, he changed the domain to threadsdev.com, because the ubbdev.com domain owner is Allen who is also an admin here. I guess he did it because he was afraid that once UBB 7 (the next version of UBB.threads, which is also the upgrade of UBB.classic) is released, ubbdev.com will be redirected to ubbdev.com, because this name fits better, where he would have limited privileges.

So in order to stop this, he added a note:

quote:
We have Changed Our URL to threadsdev.com.
Please update your bookmarks.
So that when UBB 7 is out, he will still be in control of the website. He also switched hosts from Infopop hosting to his own hosting company.

I'd like to make it clear that we did not plan to do anything against this admin, we did not plan to take threadsdev down or stop supporting UBB.threads. It was either his imagination or he did that to keep advertising his competing board software.

BTW, welcome to our forums smile

We have been planning a merger of the 2 sites for 6 months or more now, coming this weekend smile

You may want to read Josh\'s response .

Now I read over there from LK that there will be a version 7 of UBB.Threads which is also the upgrade to Classic. That's the first I've heard that. Maybe that's wrong, or maybe that's inside information. I haven't seen that in any of the Infopop posts or newsletters.
I didn't say "the upgrade to Classic", I said "the upgrade of Classic" - i.e. it's both the next version of UBB.threads and UBB.classic, as David said at UBBCentral . The reason I said "the next version of UBB.threads, which is also the upgrade of UBB.classic" is that since it's written on PHP and MySQL 4, it's more of a UBB.threads upgrade like UBB.classic 6 was a UBB.classic 5 upgrade, even though the whole code was re-written, because it was built on Perl.

Also I called it "UBB 7" because that's how we call it, it's definitely not the official name or numbering smile

what the heck are you guys trying to pull here? If ubbdev.com is pointing here, why was there no notice to ubb.threads users on where to get ubb.threads support and the old addons?

I made a post here and was directed to this thread to find a superslam going down. It is filled with accusations that aren't backed up in any way.
Then there's a post on a very nice response from Josh (of threadsdev) that links to threadsdev.com.

Instead of me getting an answer on 'where do I find ubbdev.com stuff'....I got directed to some sort of one-sided feud.

I don't understand how internet community support can go this way.

Well, at least I found the answer I was looking for...and a little interesting drama ta boot.

In the big scheme of things a few days to straighten issues out isn't much time - sorry for the delay but we'll be back on track shortly.

That would be nice. There are a lot of people out there still running both classic and threads that depend on both sites for mods and support, since it looks like niether Groupee sites are offering much of either these days, which is too bad.

While I no longer run Threads, I still have a valid license and may one day use it for a different type of community forum and would need some of the mods offered by threadsdev to customize it.

So, will the 2 sites still be merged or has that now falled by the wayside? If it has, could the .com address be redirected back to a site that offers the mods for threads users? It really does no good to direct them here if the mods aren't on this site.

They'll be merged as well as we'[ll be ready to support the next version of software IP releases when they get around to it smile
