If I answer with Quick Reply box, it is a reply to the last message.

How do I change it so it would answer to the first (original) post by default?

Just click the quick reply link next to the post you want to reply to, then it will be in reply to whatever post you want.

I'd have to ponder the code a bit to get it to always reply to the first post in a thread.
