I assume this has been answered a gazillion times, so apologies as I couldn't find an answer via searching...

Basically, I've done only a few basic mods to my 6.2.3 forum, and now I want to go to the newest version and am pretty much seeing no way to upgrade without overwriting the mods. I take it there's no tricks to this? The changedfiles.txt shows that pretty much every file changes between the 6.2.3->6.3 upagrade alone...

Thanks in advance...

I think the best thing to do when upgrading from 6.2.x to 6.3.x is to start clean and rehack. Anytime the second # changes it is because some things have been reworked. Therefore the mods have to be tweaked too. I think a good % of the mods have different instructions for 6.3.x than 6.2.x. I suppose you could use beyond compare but I think it would be quicker and easier to reapply the hacks from scratch. The mods get easier to install everytime you do it. That's my 2 cents anywho.

I will agree, the 6.2.x -> 6.3 was a pretty big update, and like you saw basically everything was changed. In that case you are better off doing a fresh upgrade, then applying the hacks.

Typically the maintinence updates are small and only update a few files, so using beyond/compare can make the upgrade a lot less painfull

I always start "clean" with major version upgrades.... as trying to compare files when there are major changes will most likely "create" bugs in your new version.

Many of the hacks need to be rewritten for each major version anyway.
