As a note, at UGN we're running 6.3.1, you can see it running on 6.4 at our test site:
http://www.promodtecnologies.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi We'll be upgrading to the 6.4 when we get all of our presant modifications to work on it, who knows, perhaps I'll publish other ports.
Thanks Gizzy
HEH, I get a thanks for porting a hack, and from the original author no less... ::feels special:: :x...
Ok... I looked thru this thing a couple of times and I cannot see what I am doing wrong. Something obvious most likely LOL...
Everything went in ok (no errors) but when I go into templates settings, there is no buttons to turn the hyper on/off... etc. When I hit the update button, I get an error that I didn't select the options that the hyper is giving me.

Since I cannot see the buttons to set them, I cannot create a new style template. I am not using JCT, stock UBB styles. Everything appears to be right... obviously not though, with the exception of not being able to see the toggles.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Thanks for the work on this hack and Happy New Year!!!
Go to your styles page (under your primary dropdown). Edit your standard template and scroll down to HyperCell options. It should be there if you followed the directions correctly for 6.4.
It is working great now... left out a few things. Weird how it didn't push a Syntax or compliation error... got it now though. Thanks Gizzy!!!
Which things were "left out" so i can update the file?
Should the board be closed when doing this hack?

Sorry G, things I left out... not you. Works great. Thanks!!!
egad - my name was 'hacked' out of the credits!
Blaime Allen, I took all information from the 6.3 (i think) mod...
Hey Gizzy, once again, nice mod. I used this on 6.3.1.2 so I decided to bring it over with 6.4.0.1. Under the old mod, I was able to click anywhere in the cell to follow the link. Now it appears it is only highlighting the cell. Is that by design or did I miss somthing along the way?
Also, don't know if I did something wrong, (again), but when I mouse over the "Last Post" column, it changes the color during roll over, but does not change it back to the default state.
OK. I just went back to the board and got a different condition. Now, every odd forum (cell) allows a click anywhere in the cell and will follow the link. Each even cell changes the mouse pointer but will not recognize the click.
This condition is true in both the cell describing the forum, and the cell listing the last post.
It actually should go to the forum on click, odd that you have it going half way
... See there were significant code changes that made differant parts go out of wack, I'm still workin on some things, and still working out some bugs, hence beta status :x...
One bug that we found not too long ago was with Active Topics, the hovers weren't working correctly so we removed it (who really needs it there though, just makes it look like we've tried too hard).
I am working on the click and go option, I know the code in HTML so finding the conflict in perl shouldn't be too difficult.
Stay tuned i guess lol... I end up working all night/day so i try to bust some updates here and there
.
If anyone cares to take a stab at a fix I'd be appreciative...
Leave it to me to screw it up to a point where it works the way its not supposed to...
BTW, posts react in the same fashion as the forum. Each odd cell works, evens don't. At least I am consistent.
I did indeed notice that there was a lot more involved in applying this mod. My boss interrupted me twice during this and another mod I was applying and I kept loosing my spot.
Since I am not a perl/cgi guy, I humbly bow to your plight.
Lol, I'll make you a deal, send me the files (my email is
) you need to mod (as listed in the mod file) and message GizmoLaptop on AIM and I'll apply everything for you (including the fix for active topics that is almost done).
looks like my name was hacked out of the credits!
first post corrected jeremiah
Anyone care to help figure out why the bbs is only reading every other cell? I don't admit that I'm stumped too often, but it seems that I'm having a bad day!
Certainly. If you view my test board:
http://www.promodtecnologies.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi and hover over the forums you'll see that they all change as their supposed to. Now here's wehre the problem begins...
You can click on the 1/3/5/7/etc forums and it'll go to that forums topic summary, BUT on 2/4/6/8/etc it will not lol...
I fixed in 6.3.1
Here is the link to my post.
MY HYPERCELL KLUDGE the IF / Else statement is the problem - Make the Else echo the IF and it works fine
With this "Fix" I assume you cannt turn it off, but it worked for me so no biggie. It should point the coders to the location of the actual problem though
Can someone MHP this when its fixed for 6.5
This seems like an interesting temporary fix... It'd actually do away with deactivating though i believe, the only way to deactivate it would be to set the alt cells to reflect their original colour so they don't change...
Gizzy,
If the kludge works, how should that section be rewritten without a If/Else statement? Im ready to install it on my 6.5 and hate sticking in extra clock ticks.
Thanks!
That kludge does work as a fix, you can still disable in the style settings (I actually JUST tested it).
There are two modifications you'll have to make (I'll update the mod officially in 5 minutes).
In public_forum_summary.pl
Replace:
With:
</pre></div></div>In public_forum_page.pl<br>Replace:<br><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>

Mod now updated. Will work flawlessly on 6.4 & 6.5 (so far
).
hehe can't believe I actually helped fix something I know little or nothing about
Now I won't feel so bad about leeching more hacks
Thanks Grizzy!!
No, thank you
, see, I didn't test the issue because I just doubted that it'd work in the first place but I guess that I should try things from now on lol...
hehe what a team! Your brains and my bumbling we can RULE THE WORLD!
Just sit and watch nothing but the sci fi channel and the history channel for 12 years and tell me what you pick up lol...
Needs one quick fix/clarification.
For 6.5 the following is slightly different from the instructions.
In public_forum_page.pl

If a moderator can dress that up some to read easier thats great. But basically the 6.5 Version has mention of the Sticky Feature so it may throw someone off looking for a perfect match.
Enjoy! Worked flawlessly the first time on 6.5 for me. Thanks again gizzy! Now if someone would MHX this thing so the masses can enjoy it too!
Worked like a charm. Can always depend on you guys...
If anyone wants it, I created the MHX with the fixes. You can find it
HERE . I tested the original of this file against my test and production 6.4.0.1 servers. Since I already have it installed, I have not tested this new version.
I also took the liberty of putting your name on it Giz. I was pretty generic with the author since I haven't been able to follow everyone who was involved...Hope you don't mind. Let me know if you want changes to the credits. Be glad to oblige. It certainly is the least I can do for all the help I have gotten from these forums.
Well, don't I feel sheepish lol... I'll have the text updated when I install an FTP client on this computer (I send my laptop to Dell for Repairs)...
Ok, file updated, sorry for the delay, couldn't find where I stashed my FTP client (this desktop is my file server so its slower and has less stuff installed, but tons of files) lol...
installed... and working really nice!
thnx for the work!
You're more than welcome
, glad to know it worked well...
Hey Gizzy!
Know what would be REALLY swell? If Admin posts hypercelled a different color! Perhaps go so far as to make it a clickable option for Admins/Mods when creating a topic. It would then denote a post considered IMPORTANT by the Management as they scrolled down the topic summary without making it sticky. I for one don't use an "Announcement" forum and was thinking of ways to place additional "weight" to a topic that I wanted users to read.
Thanks for the consideration!
Mike
It'd be a little difficult plus I don't think that too many people would be too interested. See, with cell rollovers (their quite simple to work with) when you have it rollover differant colours it looks kind of tacky...
I know this is old, bear with me...
Can't find string terminator "'" anywhere before EOF at NonCGIPath/Templates/public_daily_topics.pl line 139.
Getting this error when a user accesses TAT. Any idea why?
Here's the snipped from my .pl file, line 139...
$HyperCellPath = '';
The latest file (linked to from the first post on this thread) does not include any modifications to public_daily_topics.pl as i couldn't get it working at the time.
Gizzy, again you've saved my ass. Thanks for support on the ancient versions
