Did you upload fader.js to your non cgi directory? Do you have the "Time Modification" installed? If you have the "Time Modification" installed have you added the line to make it compatable with the fader?
Posted By: 1QuickSI Re: [6.4 - 6.5] [finished] News Fader - 02/02/2003 9:57 PM
Yes fader.js is in my non-cgi folder. Not sure what teh time modification is though, so I would say nope not installed smile

Here's a fix for JC Templates, it will stick the fader above the Forum/Topic/Post/Moderators etc.

This fix is assuming you have not hacked the file yet.

Gizzy, I am having the same problem as 1QuickSI with regards to the blank content; however, I am getting successive script errors. It doesn't matter which browser I try this from, I keep starting with "FDRmaxLoops is not defined".

I force the definition in the fader.js file and it comes up with a weird error of "Object expected at line 58, character 1 in ultimatebb.cgi". As near as I can figure, this is referring to a GetTime() function call within the fader.js file itself. I comment that out and then I start getting object undefined again for FDRlnkDev(? I think thats what it was). Whatever it was, I couldn't find a reference of it in any of the files that were modified by this hack.

Sad part is, the first time I installed this on my test system, it worked perfectly. I installed it on the live system under the exact same conditions, and it doesn't work. Went back to the test system, and it no longer works.

I'm installing this on 6.5 in about 30 minutes EXACTLY how I've stated in the instructions. If anything is "off" I'll be updating the script, but as I had stated before I have no clue what your problems are since I have had it running smoothly on 7 6.4 boards.
Posted By: Gizmo Re: [6.4 - 6.5] [finished] News Fader - 03/03/2003 9:05 AM
Ok, I've installed this modification on 6.5 without any problems.

There is however a script problem with 6.5 that I'm not sure how to work out. It doesn't seem to want to list the total topics or posts which is sort of puzzling, does anyone have any input?

And yes, that is the ONLY error that I had recieved... You can see my test board at:

Thankyou for the credit of my previous port, much appreciated.. You should however be giving credit to others that have also been involved with the hack's past. LK is one of a few that come to mind.

Oblivion Knight.

Hi,

Thanks Gizzy, but with Netscape 7.0 PC & Mac I dont see the News Fader but with IE6 perfect.
Posted By: Gizmo Re: [6.4 - 6.5] [finished] News Fader - 04/25/2003 3:39 AM
then i suppose the code is IE specific :-x...

Unfortunately the News Fader script was never compatible to Net and Mozilla if I remembered correctly. I don't know about Opera. It's a great script, but would be even better if it were compliant across browsers. smile

I've implemented News Fader on 6.5 w/o problems. I have a minor comment about the Forum Summary page formatting that results.

The News Fader appears below the column titles for the forum summary table. I think the page would look better if the Fader appeared above the titles. I thought I could see the spot in public_forum_summary.pl where the "News Fader Stuff" should go, but I get an error. Here's what I did:

I put the code from:
Code
[/code]I also changed the line:
Code
</pre></div></div>and the original "add after" line from: <br> <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>
The error I got was:

[code]
This is puzzling because I didn't change that section of code. Any suggestions?

In public_forum_summary.pl, look for FDRboxHgt = 43;

I set mine to 29. That's about two lines high.
