Zip updated. The only step that changed was the one in cp2_vars.cgi, so you only need to rehack that step

Hello,

I get the following error when I want to build in the backup-hack in 6.7 Final:

you don't have the Wordlets Mod installed like it requires.

I installed this on 6.6.1 and get the following error when I click "backup your UBB":

Why do I always feel like I'm swimming in mud--trying to figure out how the hell to work these things?! tipsy

I installed the backup. It creates a zip file. I download the zip file ... I cannot get the freakin' zip file to open up!

It either doesn't recognize it as a zip file OR it keeps wanting to "add" to the zip file ...

I get a weird suffix, too --> other.backup.3.8.2004.tar.gz

So ... what am I doing wrong now?! tipsy

That isn't a zip file - it's a gzipped tar.

Winzip knows how to deal with tars, and it knows how to deal with gzips, and most of the time it knows how to deal with gzipped tars... but browsers tend to uncompress the file while saving it, which confuses Winzip - it sees a .gz file, but it isn't a gzip file.

Rename it and get rid of the .gz extension. Winzip should open it fine after you do so.

Um, Charles? You are talking Greek to me. wink

I have tried to change the name ... remove the extension, etc.

When I do, winzip won't recognize it.

How do I get the backup file to be *just* a zip file and not one of these other things?
Posted By: Gizmo Re: [6.6 - 6.7] [beta] UBB Backup - 03/09/2004 3:45 AM
think of a gzip file as a compressed file, think of tar as a zip file, winzip doesn't like it when the two are used together and tends to die...

Go snag WinRar from www.rarsoft.com and untar the file (unzip). As your server is most likely on a unix/linux machine it can tar and it can global zip, but it can't just zip (unless you play with it to do so).
