Is this possible with w3t?

Have it so that only certain registered users can access certain parts of the discussion board?

Say I have a software product site. I want to have the general public register for general discussion, and on the same board, an area for beta testers to discuss things.

I want to block normal (registered) users from being able to read/post to the beta testers area, while at the same time giving beta testers access to the "general posting area" and the beta testers section.

Possilbe?

Thanks,
Troy

Yes it's possible, and very simple, too - just create a new user group (Admin -> Create new group), e.g."Testers" and then create your board and set the board's read groups to be only for the "Testers". That way only they can view the board.

But how do I change the "status" of others.

How do I change, say myself to be able to see the "testers" section, through the admin, I guess, right?

You should just have to go to Admin -> Show/Edit Users to edit their profile to include the new group for your testers. You'd have to do that for every one of your testers, of course.

After doing so, you could at that very same place select to show all who are part of the usergroup "testers".
