Ok, if everyone can take a second to look at the PERL version you will see some small changes that have been made for 5.4.4. One of the new options is to turn off a good portion of the new post counters. To do this I added a column on the main wwwthreads listing to display if there are any new posts on a board.

When the new post counters aren't used the total number of new posts and threads won't be displayed so this will still let the users know if there is anything new.

You can see that the current icon is just a folder or a folder with a dot in it. I'd like to have something that is a little more pleasing to the eye, so if anyone has any ideas I'd like to see what you can come up with.

Once we get a good icon I will be able to release the PERL version of 5.4.4 and then get finished with the PHP upgrade as well.

Well, I know its a little "traditional", but maybe have the folders that have new items, open a little bit, and a few sheets of paper could be slightly peeking out the top.

You could also just use some of the smilies you have, but a normal []/testimages/icons/smile.gif[/] for no new posts and a []/testimages/icons/shocked.gif[/] for new posts...

Even better, if there is a new post, put a bouncing arrow next to it. I would make one for you so you could see what I mean, but I suck at that stuff wink

Hey, I was thinking the same thing... but "traditional" also means easy recognition... I vote for that one, it's most user friendly, IMHO.

The folders with paper sounds like a good idea. I think I can handle doing that one.

I liked more the first icons you put in, basically because they were smaller, I would like them to take as little space as they could.

I also made a couple icons you can try, they are attached. But the current ones would be fine, just maybe resizing them down a little, in my opinion.

I like these MTO. I didn't really like the new icons I had which is why I didn't put out the release today. These should do just great!
