Just received through the monthly newsletter for threads.

Not much in there that was Threads related but it did say...

[]This month we start to embark upon the development of UBB.threads™ 6.1. Our latest release of Version 6.0 brought a lot of large changes and 6.1 promises to bring even more! This list of features that we are considering is the largest yet. You can be assured that we will be squeezing in as many as possible.

Don't forget to keep your eye on our development forum . This is a great way to follow the progress of Version 6.1, and to check out which features you have to look forward to.

So I went to the development forum - not a single mention of threads to be seen UBB, ubb.x & Opentopic - but nothing on threads

So two questions a) how is 6.1 coming along and b) what would people like to see in 6.1?

I have a preliminary list of things to get added in for 6.1, but need to somewhat finalize them. There are a couple that I'm not positive I'll be able to do or do properly. Right now 6.1 is in the beginning stages, nothing major yet as most of my time has been spent on squashing 6.0 bugs

Right now features are either on or off for everyone, Just having the current features that can be configured by "group" would be a hugh selling point for Infopop not to mention motivation for becoming a paid Member of my forums.

Ahh yes..

[]Added a database backup/restore utility in the admin section. Relies on the mysqldump/mysql commands and will allow to dump/restore individual tables or the entire database.

That will be nice to have

Why is the first post by canvey dated after the replies by scream and others?
Posted By: AllenAyres Re: 6.1 Development - 07/18/2002 6:12 AM
Good question

That might be the date I "stuck" it to the top of the forum

Storing the actual marked up signature in the database to reduce calls to do_markup on post display.

Added an option to upload post icons from the admin control panel.

Added a database tablename prefix to the config file and the installer so users can specify a custom tablename prefix to use for all tables.

Added a new option when editing a post that allows a user to delete the attachment from the post or upload a new one if attachments are turned on.

I really like the last 3 laugh

Any general timeframe for 6.1?

I haven't gone to 6.0.2 yet as I hate re-installing alot of hacks. I'd wait for 6.1 if it were like in August or such. But if it's year end, I'd upgrade now.

Any idea?

If you work the paddle on the left, I got the right, cuss I am in the same boat with ya.

We don't need exact release dates, just a general idea; 1 month, 3 months, etc..

While I don't know official dates, I would say less than a month, roughly. Hypothetically speaking

wow, quite a bit faster than I expected

Where do you sign up for the Threads news letter? I've looked for the link on Info Pop's site and couldn't find it.

Scream - you're awesome!

Fantastic!

Now that changes my plans to move to 6.0.2. It will save me tweaking things twice.

Thanks

Yes, not going to put quite as much into this release as originally planned. 6.2 we're going to move to where everything goes off of the user number instead of user name. This is a huge change but it will allow us to be more flexible like and do things like add an option to allow users to change their display names.

So, this will take a while to finish along with a small vacation I have planned at the end of August So we want to get some more new stuff out there to hold everyone over.

[]add an option to allow users to change their display names

Will this be configured by group? Right now I offer this feature to my paying "Members" group.

I don't think so. It would be a setting under users's prefs, I would guess.
