Im not shure this is a bug, but it is starting to be a problem.

But i belive that the problem occurs on the php version as well.
The problem is IE 6 and the W3c standard P3P.
By default IE6 will not accept the cookie and the user can´t complete a login and therefore not login to the forum. []https://www.ubbdev.com/threads/php/images/icons/frown.gif[/]

Is there some quick fix for this?
Or maybe some support can be made in future versions?

The quickest fix for the moment would be to have your users change their security settings on IE6.

They go to Tools, Internet Options then the security tab. They can change the security to either v5.5 of IE or they can press the edit button and enter a website to allow the cookies to pass.

For the P3P specs, you have to add very specific information on your website, but I don't know at this point how you would pass that information along with the cookies from the boards?

But unfortunatly most of the users that complains comes from
company computers, i suspect that the Sysadm on some companys is fiddling with settings he or she do not understand the impact of.

The forum could use 2 files, one with a own written disclaimer, maybe with some default technical instruction and explanation what the forum does from UBBThreads.
And a xml file placed in the right place defining a good privacy policy.

The files and things have to be very specific yes, and then in addition the header or something that is sent with the cookie has to have the correct information. So just adding the proper information to your site is not going to be good enough.

We have not figured out how to do it yet. Many of the company computers I have heard about the people have been able to change the settings on their individual machine, because they are within IE and not the basic OS. Also many firewalls (mostly the personal ones and XP I believe) have defaults that automatically block cookies. So sometimes even if they have IE correct, then the personal firewalls are creating the problem.
