Well... I had this board in my favorites, that it suddenly was gone, then I found it again and added it to my favorites, and now it's gone again....
Does anyone know if it still exists and if it does, what's the url?
I had this one stores in my favorites:
http://spawn.piratecove.org/ But now this says 'Future home of Spawn's Board' which I found hard to believe....
Is it still up?
Spawn was supposed to move the files onto the new Piratecove server, but he never came on since.
That's sad... Leaving us 5.xx die-hard brothers in the cold
Yeah I know, he had the best v5 hack database out there.
Turbanator from quake3world was working on getting it running again, but I'm not sure what happened after that.
CtrlAltDel from piratecove.org is hosting him.
Spawns board is still offline because he is having machine problems right now. When he does get his machine and school figured out it is to come back online.

After that the Hack database got back up, a few months later the board. And then a few days later it went down again.
It would be cool of him to have all hacks in one big zip-file and make it available for download.
Well if somebody can get in touch with him that would be cool. He has all the hacks off SpAwN's database.
Can anyone get this hack for me?
"
Home online with SSI"
I didn't found it at UBBdev database. I found it at Spawn's database but there is an error, I couldn't download it.
If anyone of you have that hack, please attach it to me at
[email protected]Thanks
Whats Home Online via SSI? Like displaying who's online via SSI?

I made one big zip file of almost all of the ubb 5.xx hacks...do i have permission to post the rar. file?
YES! lol
I can't give you permission as this board is not mine... but I'm sure the people of UBB-dev won't mind you doing so...
ok i guess i better wait for the admin to se this first...i don't wanna break any rules
Really? Are there rules against this?
I don't know if any admins even check this section... There's no support and not really any attention for us 5 series modders...
Thats what i'm saying i'm not sure if there's a rules or not for this..
Guys there is nothing better than to see how many times a hack is downloaded and keep them separete, this way you can keep track of popularity of those hacks

Not unless you have redistrabuting rights to those hacks.
Redistributing rights?
You have to be joking! Who holds those rights? The authors of the hacks?
I find that policy annoying. If the authors did not want their code to be distributed without them knowing about it, why did they release it publically in the first place?
You can reasonably asume they won't have any problem with anyone distributing the hacks.
Yes the hack authors. UBBDev have the rights to add hacks to their database at UBBDesign has rights to add Template mods to their databases.

Who gave them those rights? And do they own those rights all for themselves?
I am getting a bit annoyed about this because I have worked open source most of my life. And most of the hacks are simply add-ons that can not be commercially sold as a seperate product. Moreover, I thought the goal of this board was to help people to make hacks, get hacks, learn from hacks and above all SHARE the hacks so other people can enjoy them.
I have a real problem with person's ego being greater than the authors. I for one consider everything I post here to be completely free for everybody to do with as they please.
So on the bottom of the page I read this quote:
© 2000 - 2001 UBBDev.com
which is not uncommon, I see it on many boards, but I don't live up to it. On my boards the 'copyright' is with the author and in this case the author obviously WANT his code to be shared.
It would be rediculous to state 'Here's a hack that I made, here's the code, but you all can't use it because I have the copyright'.
BTW Lord Dexter this is not ment as an attack on you, I'm just stating my opinion here.
I consider all hacks to be free to copy and spread for everyone who wants them. It might be educative for some people, I learned quite a bit from other people's hacks.
Damn i'm happy i without thinking just posted it
UBBDev got the rights from the Infopop Corportaion, as well as UBBDesign. If you want rights to make your own database, you'll need the go ahead from Infopop but I doubt you'd get it since many have tried and failed.
I have no desire to start my own database. I just think it's rediculous infopop has rights to put pieces of code (that are not even theirs) in a database.
If I would want to start a database however I would abolutely not care what Infopop thinks about it really. If I like to put pieces of code (that are not even copyrighted by Infopop) in a database that really is no concern of them at all.
I strongly disagree with this policy. But I guess I made my point clear and stop about that.
Well if you did start one without their consent they would take your site down probably. But if you want to redistrabute somebody's hack you need the authors permission unless you have database rights from Infopop.

They have zero authority in my country, no way the are going to succeed in that.
But I don't have the time nor the will to put up a database.
And if I do want to spread hacks I will most certainly consider something like that an empty thread. I'm really dissapointed in the attitude and see absolutely no reason for UBBDEV or Infopop to maintain that attitude.
Look here, I am not infopop. I have only said what I know. I suggest you talk to AllenAyres about the hack distribution. I'm not Mr. InfopopKnowAllTheirLaws.
I know man, I think I'm just trying to hear your opinion on this
Well you sure got it out of me.

Well you sure got it out of me.
Not really. You have not said anything about what you personally think about this policy and if you agree or disagree.
But I won't force that upon you.
Well I don't care about the policy really, doesn't affect me.
