UBB.Dev
Welcome to our new and Improved Modifications forum.

We have decided to combine our "Beta" and "Finished" modifications forums and modify things a bit so that modifications are posted using a certain format of the information. All new posts in this forum will be created using a special form for submitting modifications.

This will allow all modifications to be indexed using our new Modification Index which allows you to display modifications for certain types and versions, as well as limit your search by keyword/phrase. It should make finding modifications a lot easier, and we'll continue to expand our abilities here.

Instructions for Posting a Modification:
- Simply click "Post" in this forum like you are going to make a post.
- Fill in "Mod Name & Version". This is the version of the modification. There's a separate place for Threads versions. For example "Inline Images 1.3".
- Give a detailed description of what the modification does. The first 200 characters of this will show on the Modification Index, so the more clearly you can summarize the better.
- Select the versions of UBB.Threads that the mod works with.
- Status, select either "Beta", "Finished" or "Untested"
- Enter any Pre-requisites, for example "IIP 5.3 Required".
- The author & date field should be filled in for you, adjust if needed.
- Please give any credits where credit is due.
- List all files (scripts, templates etc..) altered by the modification.
- List any new files included in your distribution.
- List any database alterations that are used by the modification.
- List instructions for install and any other notes about the modification. Links to examples or screen shots are also helpful.

Please Attach Modifications as either Text Files or ZIP files rather than posting text in the body of the post. It's much easier to use, and eliminates left/right scrolling and cut and paste issues. Note: we are not allowed to attach whole "Infopop" scripts as they are copyright. So you must include instructions on how to alter existing scripts. We are allowed to share templates and stylesheets.

Maintaining Your Modifications:
Please check back for any issues encountered with modifications you've posted. If you have a question or problem with a modification, please post the question in that thread rather than starting a new post somewhere... it's much easier to keep track of, and if your problem is posted in the thread with the mod, it's much more likely that they author will fix it.

Unlimited Edit time is permitted in this forum. So you may alter your post at any time for updates and to make corrections. Please don't alter the "formatting" of the modification information, as our Modification Index is expecting the data in a certain format.

As you update your files, please keep the most current version attached to the first post in the thread. As threads get long and the mod develops, it's much easier to find the current version if it's attached to the first post in the thread.

As you update your mod/file, please leave the "marked as edited" tag checked. Our modification index page has a place to reflect when the post was updated, and this information can be useful in taking note of how up to date a modification might be.

Changing a Modifiction's Status:
For consistancy we will use 3 classifications for our modifications.
- Beta: for new modifications, loosly tested by you. They are perfect for people to load on their forums to try out, and report any bugs back here.
- Finished: have been widely used by many users, and have been proven to be pretty much bug free. These are the safest bet for those who are new or unfamiliar with applying hacks and modifications to their forums.
- Untested: may have been written up by one of our developers by request of someone here. These are usually quick / simple modifications that were posted here because they might be of use to others.

When it's discovered that a modification has changed status (Untested to Beta, or Beta to Finished) the author or the moderators here may update it's status. To do this, edit the original post and change the status in the Subject, and Body of the Post to either Beta, Finished, or Untested. Consistancy counts here, because this information is also used by our Modification Index.

Helping others find the "good" mods/Keeping the Developers Happy:
If you find a modification here particularly useful and it's really helped your forum, please take a moment to rate the thread. This will help others easily find the good/useful/popular mods on our Modification Index.

Also, most developers here post mods for the benefit of the community in their spare time. Because of this, please be courteous as they assist you in working out any bugs or problems. Also most developers would gladly accept a "donation" via PayPal or the like for their time and efforts. At the very least, a "thank you" goes a long way.

Note about older modifications:
Pleae note, that modifications not re-posted since we implimented our new Modification Index feature, will be found in the "Archived Beta Modifications" or "Archived Finished Modifications" forums. There is an index at the top of each of those forums. Only newly posted modifications will appear on our new index. But in time, we'll be working to repost all current and popular modifications.
