UBB.Dev
Posted By: JoshPet How to be featured in our Open House Forum - 09/08/2003 9:18 AM
The open house forum will feature a different member's site on our homepage each week.

This is the perfect way to let other ThreadsDevers know what your site is about, what you have to offer and solicit new members!

To have your site featured on ThreadsDev here is what you need to do:
  • Add a link to Threadsdev.com in the footer of your site (see instructions below).
  • Send an email to [][email protected][/] with the following information:
    - Username
    - Site Name
    - URL to your site
    – Description of your site, what your forum is about, and what you have to offer.

Your site must be using a legally licensed copy of UBB.Threads.

Each week we'll randomly select an entry, verify that you meet the requirements then feature you on our home page.

The listing will be something like this:

[]
This Week's Featured Site: ThreadsDev.com
AllenAyres and JoshPet are the owners of ThreadsDev.com.
ThreadsDev is where UBB.Threads developers come for answers, modifications, hacks, stylesheets, templates and graphics. The site not only features hundreds of modifications available for free download, but also has a host of experts ready to help answer your PHP/MySQL and forum integration questions. The site also features a number of UBB.Threads experts that are for hire to help with any size project.
[/]

That would appear on our homepage for a week, and remain archived in our "Open House" forum, thus becoming a permanent link exchange with ThreadsDev.

How and where to add the ThreadsDev.com link to your site:
  • Open the ubbt_footer.tmpl file.
  • Find this:
    Code
     <br />UBB.threads&trade; $VERSION <br />
  • Below it ADD this:
    Code
     <br /><br />With Modifications from <a href="https://ubbdev.com" target="_blank">ThreadsDev.com</a> <br />
  • Upload the modified template to your server. The link should appear at the very bottom of your footer, just below the Infopop Copyright and Version Number.

Now for the Fine Print:
  • Eligible entries must be a legal (valid license) full-release UBB.Threads Board. (No pirated boards).
  • Any warez, porno or related sites, or sites with links, banners, pop-ups to any warez or pornographic sites need not apply. We may exlude any site that we deem to be inappropriate or contains inappropriate content.
  • The site must display the infopop copyright and version number, per the license agreement.
What about us legacy threads owners that can remove the copyright? Is my site exempt since I don't display the Infopop copyright? Never have displayed any copyright since I've owned threads.
Do I have to add the exact link that you have above? All the code changes I did to my forum are my own. Don't have one mod installed from here. I don't have a problem linking, but, not with those exact words. How about:

<a href=https://ubbdev.com>Threadsdev.com</a>
Good question.

We're just concerned that it's a "legal" threads site. So indeed wwwthreads sites can remove the copyright notice. That's OK. I know your site, and a few other wwwthreads sites. So anyone else who falls under that scenerio, just include a note in the email that you had a wwwthreads license to remind me.

The link does not have to be exact. Just looking for a link exchange here. So yes, that's fine.
Question: I submitted my site - why has it not yet been featured?

Answer: Make sure your site meets the requirements and has a link to ThreadsDev as specified above. If I get ready to feature you and don't find the ThreadsDev link (or the infopop copyright if required) then I skip it and move to the next one.

Please review the rules above and resubmit them to [][email protected][/]

Warez or pirated version, I can understand is illegal, but why exclude porno or even 'related' sites? Cant porno sites bringout the best of this software OR serve contents to the hilt that its supposed to serve? Things that we are supposed to evaluate?

Just a thought, no hard feelings
Yeah, I'm involved with a site like that myself. But threadsdev is a "family " site with users of all ages, using Infopop's webservers. So we extend the same AUP/TOS policy here.

I think they are running out of submissions, but I still like the idea. I'll submit mine in due time. I'm just waiting to upgrade UBB.threads to 6.5, for Hivemail 1.3 to go final, and have it all integrated, then pay JC to redo my site design, before submitting mine
Yeah, it's more like once a month now. I still have some of submissions.... just giving them more exposure.
I have submitted my site but changed the compulsary footer as I have IIP installed.

Its now:

Distributed by ThreadsDev.com The Modification Wharehouse

is that OK ?
Yes - that's fine.
