Hi all:

I had a hack installed on 6.2.0 that allowed anyone who responded to check the "E-mail" checkbox and get e-mail when anyone else also replied to a thread - it allowed anyone, not just the thread starter, to get an e-mail when someone else replied.

I still can't believe Infopop lacks this feature as a built-in function of the software. I think that is the single best feature that vBulletin has - it keeps people active in the discussions rather than relying on them to go back to the board, find the post, read, and reply.

1) Does anyone have this or know if its coming for 6.5? I miss it already!
2) Also, is there a way to turn "Email Notification" to "ON" by default?

I for one can't believe that UBB doesn't have this feature. This would easily DOUBLE my site traffic.

I have a lot of money and time invested in UBB, but I am seriously considering going to vBulletin soon if they can't add this simple feature.

I concur with all the above I am also surprised that UBB does not allow a member to subscribe to a forum, as in vBulletin & other bulletin board programs. That way, when someone submits a post in a particular forum they subscribed too, they will receive an email notification.

If that feature is implimented, it should only send email with specific instructions for how to stop the automated email. Otherwise, forum operators will get stuck with stupid users demanding that you stop spamming them.

There are SO many neat features that php vbulletin and other forum software apps offer that it's a wonder ubb is still in bidness ... I must be dumb for continuing to use ubb, too.

The email reply feature is so basic and REQUIRED that ubb should be admonished for not having it included in v5 let alone, what, v6.6? And I'll be damned if I'll spend another $100 to go further than v6.4 ... time to move to php, methinks.

All that being said, is there at least a likely-hood someone will be inventive enuf to create a UBB/6.4 mod/hack for posting email notification? Heck, I'd personally ante up 25/USD to see it happen, and I *know* others would, too.
