When I first got my UBB.classic I'd never seen Perl, and I was a bit surprised to see the stock software was missing all the cool features I'd seen on so many .classic boards. But, thanks to UBBDev, I've had a lot of fun improving my board. I now have so many hacks and customizations that I don't know if I could ever upgrade. wink So, check it out: a 5.45c retro-trip. A quick listing of my hacks, followed by links...

Custom and Customized Hacks

[*]Active Topics
-- customized layout and functionality

[*]Private Messages
-- ability to see if message read by recipient
-- distribution list notations included in PM so recipents can see who all got the PM

[*]Instant Messages
-- rewritten for better appearance and more logical behavior

[*]Who's Online
-- tracks members by IP after they post/reply when their cookies are off
-- reading topic info shown only for guests
-- tracking integrated with non-ubb scripts and selected pages

[*]Member's Area
-- a login-protected page with summary sections, links, and customized tips for user, profile, and PMs, as well as special links to member only features like Image Database uploads and Link database additions.

[*]More small layout tweaks, etc.
-- custom layout for Ultimate.cgi
-- forum description text added to forumdisplay.cgi

[*]Additional forums on second page (see link at top left of Ultimate.cgi forum listing)

[*]Highly modified SlashUBB for news on homepage.

[*]Two different CP configured Footers

[*]Fixed bugs in original 5.45c code
-- Page generation and multipage links had problems for threads with deleted posts, which resulted in links to non-existent pages, now fixed.

[*]UltBB.setup integration with non-ubb scripts, for full control of paths through CP.

Standard Hacks

[*]Anchor Hack
[*]Auto updating smilie legend
[*]Avatar
[*]Homepage link
[*]Last post in Profile
[*]Login
[*]Member list
