I *finally* canceled my aol account, after paying $25.90/month for the last nearly 11 years for a service I haven't used since 1999
I don't feel nearly as bad about it as I did when I canceled my prodigy account in 1995
It's the end of an era
I can think of much better uses for ~$3k lol
I could too, I tried to cancel a few years ago and they offered me some ridiculous rate (<$10/month) which apparently promptly went back up at some point. This time I wasn't swayed
lol, why bother, if you need a backup isp go with people pc or netzero, they have like $5/mo if you sign up for a year.
maybe now... not 4-6 years ago
Not my fault you fell into a trend and stayed for so long :x... NetZero's been around a couple years, shoulda jumped on the cheap train :x...
The actual problem was the bill was being paid on a company card I don't usually get to see. I was ordering some new computers for my dad's biz when I saw the charges, so I canceled
rofl, wow, so you're one of THOSE people huh? :x
I used the account for work for a while (yeah, we weren't too high-tech) so the company picked up the bill. Out of sight, out of mind
hehe, when I worked for Boost Mobile/Nextel we always had people calling in
Them: "I canceled this phone last year, I want a refund"
To which my response was "Well, I don't see anything on your account indicating a cancelation, and due to our non-refund policy I am unable to refund any time on the account; why haven't you called in to dispute charges earlier?"
Them: "Well, I don't check my bank account all the time"
Or, how about the chick I heard on "Handle on the Law" where there was 200k missing from their bank account because they didn't have good accounting practices :x...
I <3 people hehe
I guess we can't call you a newbie anymore
you know, we just spent 2 weeks ridiculing a longstanding member of our community for being on AOL on our IRC (with no vhost anyway); was kinda fun, thought of you allen :x...
