Concorde has just landed ending an era of supersonic flights.

A sad day.

If you have ever seen or flown in her, you will understand the grace that the big bird has.

Makes you proud to be British.

Why is the Condorde being retired?

Didn't that one crash and they uncovered some flaw with it? Or is it because they just aren't selling enough tickets anymore?

The fact that it cost 9 grand for a round trip flight didn't help much.

They were losing money badly and yes there were mechanical issues as well.

There is gonna be a few new planes coming out within next 5 years that will put the concorde to shame and will be cheaper to run.. Have a brother in-law in the business and yeah Concorde was not only losing money but for it's mission it is obsolete

I think the Concorde also had problems with flight plans -- there were limited routes it could fly because of noise problems over residential areas and sonic booms.

When I saw the title of this thread, "End of an era", I thought it was going to be about the shutting down of a multitude of online pharmacies sites, and the fact that Yahoo has stopped taking advertisements for pills.

Well if you were ever in Rockaway Beach in NY when this plane flew out of Kennedy yeah.. I would say it was noisy on some of its flight paths
