Howdy!

Most of you know Melanie and I had our first baby on Monday after a difficult delivery/emergency c-section. The placenta abrupted (separated) during labor and they had to rush them to surgery. Luckily she had received her epidural an hour earlier so they had access for pain control for the surgery (plus some local anesthetic).

David is still in NICU at St Elizabeth Hospital, though they've weaned him off oxygen and began feedings yesterday (Tuesday). He was born at 37.5 weeks but for some reason still unknown was only 3lbs 13oz., so he'll be in NICU for several weeks while he gains weight. Melanie is doing well, though she has been very sore from the combo labor and c-section, please keep both in your prayers as they heal and grow. Melanie should get to go home Thursday.

Hehe, way to go daddy allen! Glad they're both doing well, I've been thinking and worrying about you all; we hope everything continues to go well and I'm excited for you beginning this journey .

Melanie was released today, tho still quite sore. David weighed in at a hefty 4 lbs this morning We're headed back to the hospital to feed him in a few minutes

Awesome news hehe, glad you get to feed the little tyke... My first time feeding Trey I thought I was going to break him...

Looking at all of your pictures brought back all the memories of my girls when they were teeny tiny...the little cap, swaddled up, learning how to hold them, feed them, change them all that good stuff.

Its like we have our own babies club...

Looks like he has done well enough to come home Friday - he's gained 10 ounces (~300gm) since birth 9 days ago. All tests so far on why he was so small have been negative, we may never find out what happened. It will be good to have him home tho

yeh, nothing livens a home up like the pitter patter of little feet... well, you won't have that yet, so we'll reitterate it as "nothing livens the home up like the sigh of content of a baby"

Today he's 9 months old. We had some fun a week ago taking pictures in the living room:

In the mostly black one he had just peed on Melanie, so you understand the expression on both faces I call him "cool breeze" now

I saw these at your hs page, absolutely adorable hehe... I did wonder her expression... He has that "I just peed on mommy" face...

He got his first tooth today - after 3 months of drool, crankiness, and biting everything in site - only 31 more to go

But they're still cute as heck and fun when they're not crying.
