Well, that's nice to hear that there's going to be a "real" 6.05 floating around now, as opposed to all those warez 6.05's (aftershock edition)... laugh
Posted By: AllenAyres Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/25/2001 8:29 PM
You mean the warez sites got the release before IP released it? They are good...
Posted By: Matt Jacob Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/25/2001 8:39 PM
You're tellin' me...
Posted By: The Prohacker Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/25/2001 9:53 PM
Was that sarcasim laugh
Heh, warez people are usually good at getting software before it goes public, but not that good tipsy

Code
code:

And their rippers aren't that good either, got the cgi's off a server I admin a few weeks ago before we deleted the account....

even if that code is incorrectly done, I'm not sure you should post it here... or anywhere.... cuz people are corrupt. wink
Posted By: The Prohacker Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/25/2001 10:02 PM
Its two lines out of an old version of UBB 6.04, there is more code posted in a hack, than that, and its just a revision number, its not like its a top secret feature of UBB....
Posted By: Stilgar Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/25/2001 10:11 PM
fine... be all correct at all. laugh
Posted By: Greg Hard Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/25/2001 10:14 PM
Yes prohacker, it was sarcasm because infopop is more secure than to actually leak a version noone has. They have a UBB 2000 out on warez sites. Its 6.03.

whats there to "rip" last time i checked ubb was a single zipfile?

and why did you have ubb on your server for download??

is 6.05 just gonna be a little security update (the ? and & in messages thing?) or is it actually a new version. all this .03-.04a-.04b-...-.04f stuff is confusing to me...

no-one knows yet.. all will be made known shortly... hopefully before my F5 button wears out..;)

Hey! Letup on my server for a bit, would ya?

6.05 will be out in an hour or two, as soon as I am sure it function checks fine. I DO NOT want a 6.05a.

And yes, I have seen the warez "6.05 Aftershock edition". They could have just as easily used any version number they wanted to. I am not going to let a few warez kiddies guide the path of the UBBâ„¢. Period.

It wasn't for download, I help run a hosting service, someone setup the warez version of UBB, and that was the file that was inside it.

I've locked about 7 accounts for what looked like pirated UBBs, any time I see on our logs that Ultimate.cgi and ultimatebb.cgi are being accessed, I check out the account to see if it looks like its pirated.

I've emailed [email protected] several times to check if a UBB was legal or not, but have never received an email back. So if it looks legit, I leave it, untill I get an email from IP about the UBB being pirated, but if they have illegal content, I just go ahead and kill the account...

The Prohacker - i see. smile why not do like Quasic and ask then the 3rd word of the 2nd sentance of the members area text. lol, brings me back to the days where games used to have that.
Person A: "it says enter the 3rd word of the 4th paragraph on page 5 of the manual"
Person B: "what? there are only 3 paragraphs on that page!"
hehe

oh and also,

jordo,
As I stated in the other thread about Quasic's script. I am not a UBB license holder, so I coudln't do that, and also why would my users wish to go though that to put software on my server that they bought? IP needs to offer a way, I can enter a url in and see if a license is linked with that url.

And then, how long do you think people find out what the completing sentance is in the members area, you'd have to keep chaning it, and then keep people renewing the account to make sure they still have axxs to the members area, because they could have owned a leased version, and still have it on their site...

And when I'm offering hosting, and I make people go though looking for a sentance whats the chance they would stay with me? And no go to another host that doesn't hassle them with those checks??

So people who have expired liscenses can't download Q's hacks anymore?

That is a pretty good idea but won't that weed out a bunch of recently expireds liscense holders as well as those warez lamers.

Can't really think of a better way though...

Guess some people will just have to get over it smile

i was poking fun at the way Quasic is doing that (no offence man smile ). i guess i wasnt clear enough about that.
but this thread isnt about that its about 6.05 tipsy im sure navaho is having a good "laugh" as the server logs prob have like a thousand hits in the past hour but like 10 uniques smile. damn u allen i bet i can press F5 faster than u can tipsy
hehe j/k
Posted By: AllenAyres Re: Release Watch - 6.05 - 06/26/2001 7:00 AM
tipsy I only pressed it a few times.. I had to leave for a few hours this evening anyways, and they usually release late evening for me here... so I figured I wouldn't get it until I came back... smile

Jeremiah, I have thought about that as well (the membership running out), but most modifications are written to the latest version anyways, if they are trying to add something to 6.03 that was written for 6.1, there'd be a problem after all..
