It is becoming apparent that RC1 is gonna happen very soon, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of our lives...
Ahem...
First one to report the
actual release in this thread will recieve a cookie. If it beats the actual announcement at IP so that we have it installed and our site back open before the announcement is made, that person will recieve an Official UBBDev mousepad from our
U-Store ... I have seen them up close, they
are nice...:)
When they say this week they mean it!
Woot!
Hmm,
*grabs some stuff from the kitchen, and some other things*
this is going to be a lonnnnnngggg weekend.
I'm gonna grab me some coffee too!
Woot!!:D
ahhh ok.
Thats great!
Damn you must be very fast to do that as all it'd take IP is to post the info and press submit lol
lol
I'll be keeping my eye out as I always have one window open to my members area.
Come on UBB 6.1, come out today.
they have to type up their big long announcement too
They've done it a few times in the past, I think the threads are still in here somewhere.
a few times...
any word yet?
I am watching closely over there at them InfoPop board.
As soon as...
Wait, I shouldn't be distracting my attention by posting here.
*Runs back to the IP Board*
I'm impress with you people.
Why thank you.
I'm just really looking forward to the UBB 6.1
Note: It is NOT coming out within the next four hours.
I think they want us to ease up on their servers
Well, CC, you say next four hours right.
Then coudn't it come out at like 6PDT?
damnit charles ur gonna make me do this at 1am aren't u? lol....
I can remember when they released the original v6, there was some guy 14 years old skipping school cuz he stayed up all night hitting F5 in the members area
skipping school? lol too funny..
NewsFlash!!Charles and Navaho just checked the server load on the server hosting the downloads! ::
They are semi-officially requesting a cease-fire with the F5 buttons!
As I look at this, I can only think of one thing..

hope i didn't screw something up...
i'm getting this error:
You do not have permission to access this area.
» Use your browser's back button to return.
when trying to "Upgrade Your UBB"
my variables directory only had two files -- neither of which had 'wordlets' in them. i guess i expected to see more of them. is that right?
when upgrading from 6.05 to 6.1.0 public beta, you cannot use the upgrade button. You must enter each settings section and make any changes needed. The next update will allow you to use the upgrade button.
At Infopop Forums they tell you how to Upgrade from 6.05 to 6.1 beta so Go look there.
i think i'm a dummy. i only see this:
7.Return to the UBB™ control panel in your browser. From the Maintenance dropdown menu,
select the "Upgrade Your UBB™" option. Read the text on the page - it will note further
procedures that may need to be followed. Click the "Upgrade Your UBB" button after you
have finished reading the instructions.
in my instructions.
i's going from 6.04d to 6.1, so i should be ok. i cant find any extra instructiosn about the button not working.
Larry read my earlier reply..
"when upgrading from 6.05 to 6.1.0 public beta, you cannot use the upgrade button. You must enter each settings section and make any changes needed. The next update will allow you to use the upgrade button."
i did. that's my problem.
i've been all through infopop forums and can't find any special instructions.
if you can't use the upgrade button, then why is it in the public instructions? and on the main post of the instructions at infopop.
i swear i feel like a big dummy because everyone seems to be able to figure this out.
Open your control panel and click on each setting, then click the submit button at the bottom. If you need to add or edit something it will tell you. Once you have checked them all, you should be okay.
Sorry to make JC look bad..
Click the upgrade button! That will add all the missing Wordlets™. Then run the update member post history, then rebuild the forum stat files. Then go through the rest of the control panel.
I had to leave last night and couldn't hang around.
Workin at the hospital today, I'll check post times here for the release and announcement time at IP later tonight
For those who have installed modifications with extra profile fields (calendar in particular), you'll probably need to increase the maxmemfields in ubb_lib_files.cgi to 55 until either the calendar is updated or a script is made to strip the extra profile fields.
We'll update tonight as well, unless another admin wants to do it today.
And for those who installed the Last Post in Profile mod, you are in big trouble
Now 6.1 is using $user_profile[31] for the custom title.
Nav, see my reply in the mods corner..
No prob, miscommunication..
MY fault JC and I feel terrible.
For those that added extra fields a field stripper script will soon be in the member's area. One for 5 to 6.x, one for 6.0.x to 6.1.x. maybe Monday.
No biggie, it happens..
Nav nav nav....WHAT are we gonna do with you...?
its suprising, there is already a stripping script for 5.x -> 6.x available...here.
Yes, there is. Or was. Is it still there? But is it YOUR(meaning UBBDev's) script. Or whoever wrote it. I forget now, sorry!
I wrote one for us to use in the support department a long time ago. Just never was comfortable enough to put it out until it had been used a bit. It will still be labled beta, as are the rebuildmems scripts. We have a lot of scriptlets that we use in support that we want to put into the members area once we feel comfortable enough with them being out there. Charles wrote a neat one that imports custom forum styles that will eventually be added but he is still tinkering on it. He is not yet comfortable with it being released.
Besides, there are still some people that don't come here.

I wrote one and copycat made one too. I'm working on a cache crawling utility, that generates the cache automatically. Way to unstable.
If anyone doesnt want to wait for the script email me,
[email protected]
Hey nav, are you guys working on a cache building utility? Because if you are, i'll stop.
I'm also working on a SQL -> Transferance, but that is WAY not ready...
edit: and you need a vB -> UBB™ converter.
And > gets converted to HTML & codes...
[ July 28, 2001: Message edited by: MasterMind ]
cache building... Charles started one at one point but with 6.1.0 this may no longer be an issue. Also cache builders are ..... no.. can be ..... just as rough. He never finished his. Before you spend more time on yours watch to see if there is still a need after 6.1.0 gets to more folks. Hate to see you waste time.
VB to UBB converter? Maybe. Some people have expressed a need. We'll see if time permits. At one time we had one that was custom written for someone but not polished, needed command line and was not ready for prime time. It has since been lost/forgotten/deleted and was for an early VB. Probably the table data structure has changed since then and it would need to be rewritten scratch. Time is an issue with that. With 6.1.0 in public beta and 6.2.0 on deck time is something we don't have a lot of.
i'll see if i can work on it, i have a dead vB somewhere i can test on... i'll mail you with it if you want, or can make it avail to people who need it..
