I read that something that you can have your domain name always just say your domain name..

Ex. www.ubbdev.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi
instead of that it just says

www.ubbdev.com

I read something about how to do It. But I don't remember what it's called so I can't pull up the info. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

how about Frameset-Redirect ?
Posted By: DJLunacy Re: stupid question - 09/07/2001 4:47 PM
i don't think that was it.. Might have been domain cloaking?

yeah it is domain cloaking... I wish i would have registered my domain with register.com instead of network solutions. The tech support at VeriSign sucks.. This is the sacond person that I have talked to nobody knows what domain cloaking is. And they can't speak english very well argh...

sounds like crap to me

a friend of mine was the administrator for the .cx domain registry for 2 years and he's never heard of it.

Just a thought smile

On IIS you can set ultimatebb.cgi to be the first page your server looks for when the site is pulled up. We have it set to index.shtm instead of index.htm or default.htm - tho your cgi files would need to be in the root folder for it to work like this... tho you could set it up like forums.domain.com/ultimatebb.cgi fairy easily...

After going through 3 people nobody knew what i was talking about. You can find it if you type domain cloaking.

if I understood you correct you want that the url line always looks like www.ubbdev.com, even if you are at ultimatebb.cgi, or ?

so, why don't you make a index.shtml or whatever with a frameset, first frame nothing, second one your website ?

domain cloaking sounds strange

try this one:

Code
code:

name it index.htm and there you go

I'll give it a whirl.

PLEASE, do anything but framesets! ;)

You can make a meta refresh tag, like<blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">code:
and also make a link to it in that page.

I've been searching for this "domain cloaking" thing, and what I got is these:

a) here are some examples how to make a script by yourself

b) here are some really good info about domain cloaking

As you will seen very soon, domain cloaking is kind of illegal, search engines will kick you and etc.

but have a look by yourself

I'm proud of being a "framesetter" tipsy

It is cloacking the URL of a page. I would do this but sometimes if you want to refresh it will refresh you to the main page and not the page your on.
