I already emailed them, but yeah

Pretty funny if I may add.

hmm mmm... looks familiar...
In the past, we haven't gone after copyers. I think we should start. Virtualave is not very friendly to pirates and copyers.
Posted By: BloggerMan Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/17/2001 3:31 AM
:rolls eyes: they even have the United We Stand image... :barf:
Posted By: Matt Jacob Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/17/2001 3:35 AM
I like that site -- very professional.
Posted By: Troy Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/17/2001 10:33 AM
While it is an obvious copy, it's like going after a child for attempting to copy a great work of art, in crayon.

If you are gonna go after someone, make it a sight that atleast still looks decent after they copy it. heh

true... my only problem with the site is the image on the left... was MJ's work. the rest pretty much looks like crap.

I'll probably post something in their newspro if they ever get it working
Posted By: l3gic Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/17/2001 10:04 PM
UBBDev definately looks better smile
Posted By: Matt Jacob Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/18/2001 1:00 AM
Hey Allen, I think that "United We Stand" image they used is Tech's. If that's what you were talking about.

UBBDev's design is so much better than that.
Posted By: Greg Hard Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/18/2001 3:47 AM
Hmm, that is a terrible rendition. And i feel sorry for someone who puts down beta testing on their resume.
Posted By: RandyM Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/18/2001 4:06 AM
I'm surprised they don't have a matching *cough* UBB...Bwahahahahaha

Posted By: Lord Dexter Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/18/2001 5:47 AM
Yeah it's too big in 800 X 600. (What I use)
Posted By: Troy Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 12/18/2001 6:06 AM
800x600?!? Ugh!

I can't stand anything less than 1280x1024.

Did anyone here read his latest news post? Sorta makes me feel sorry for the guy.

I know it wasn't right for him to copy the design, but now I just feel weird about it all.
Posted By: AllenAyres Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/12/2002 6:04 PM
I read it... which was why I was trying to be nice about it.
Posted By: Dark Templar Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/12/2002 9:07 PM
Jeez! That's horrible! Copying the whole layout like that, and then saying it's theirs. And age 13...lol, that just makes it funny. It is a horrible copy though...it doesn't have the "smooth"-ness that UBBDev has.
Posted By: ZoneX Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/12/2002 10:28 PM
Taking the UBBDev design is a bad thing to do, but having read his news post made me realise a few things. I looked a little further than the internet, and I felt sorry for what went on in his life. However, he stole a design...but I do hope things work out good for him.
Posted By: Greg Hard Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/13/2002 3:15 AM
Two different things. Sure, I hope things work out, but he stole a design and made it look like the worst design around.
Posted By: Troy Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/13/2002 3:42 AM
A thief is a thief is a thief... It's just that sort of feel sorry for someone and let them do wrong that is driving this country to crap.

I didn't read the news post or whatever there, I honestly couldn't care. Glad it isn't something I did that he stole, his site wouldn't be up for long.

yeah, but to be honest it sounds like the kids had a rough time, I'd just ignore it totally, don't even contact him, like anyones gonna lose any real sleep over it? he's only a kid!
It's not like it's a busy site!

just my 0.014p's worth
Posted By: DPK.ducky.quack Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/13/2002 6:18 AM
Does he at least mention ubbdev anywhere on his site as where the design came from? I haven't looked.

If not, make him slap it up at least with a special notice:

"The design for this site was inspired by UBBDev.Com. I took that design and made it look like crap, enjoy!"

* shrugs *

I still feel for the guy though medical wise. I should know, I get MRI's done every year because of my heart. :|

:| <-- why don't we have that smilie, . just noticed. :

I only get bent out of shape about stuff like this when people use our logo or name on their site. Can you really stick a copyright on a tag or a font size? Of course not, because it's the content of the site that actually matters.
Posted By: ZoneX Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/13/2002 1:46 PM
That's true. The only thing vaguely to his credit is that it's not an exact copy, as he didn't simply download the whole site and change the content.

LOL 3.1 of the site was launched, still no dev credit
Posted By: Lord Dexter Re: Hmm, yea right.. - 01/16/2002 8:15 AM
I don't think they are planning of giving them credit. They also probably think nobody's realised.
