What they fixed this time?

There's not much documentation yet, it was just released last night to the people on their alert list. If it's like SP2, it's a culmulative group of patches and fixes since the last SP.

Has been installed on a variety of servers and clients without problems so far smile

Yesterday, I came across a complete bug fix list somewhere... too bad I don't remember where,
it was way more detailed than what's mentioned at Microsoft.com today.

It was released Monday to select customers. It's 120 meg and is a cumulative (inclusive) service pack meaning that it is able to be installed without installing either of the two previous SP's.

It's not much bigger than SP2 actually but as with any patch, service pack or upgrade ALWAYS have backups and test it in a Q/A environment before installing it on a production server or workstation.

Has anybody else noticed how they have added "Automatic Updates" and "Set Program Access And Defaults" in this SP - Even using the Windows XP icons shocked

SP3 made an absolute disaster of the one machine at home I put it on. I will not add it to another, nor my work laptop. smash

I got my first blue screen ever after putting on SP3, that is in over a year. How did I blue screen? Opened Mozilla, loaded a page with a java applet. That was it. smash

It now takes almost 5 minutes to boot. I get the splash screen and the machine hangs. SP3 cannot deal with the fact that I have one hard drive plugged into my secondary controller that is disabled. It now finds only 1 of 3 scsi CD ROM drives.

Oh, and I got rid of that automatic update junk. Even though I said no it was still loading. Go into services, stop it, then disable it. smash

I hope SP3a comes out soon. smile

I haven't had any problems on the 5 I've put it on, but they're pretty standard boxes. smile
