does anyone know of a script that reads referrer logs for search terms people used to get to a site?

I think it would be an entertaining addition to a site to show, for example, the last five search terms people used to get there on Google.

I'm certain I've seen this done... can't remember where though...

AWStats (http://awstats.sourceforge.com/) reads your apache access logs; I have it on:

I know about that program, but what I want is something simpler, that would produce a display similar to this:

Last 3 Google terms

the purpose wouldn't be for site management, as with a stats program, but rather for an "isn't that interesting" display for the site's users.

well, you'd need something capable of reading the log file; it's a little above any simple "mod" and i'm unsure of any "easy to use" scripts to do so other than awstats.

all you'd need to do is log referers, and check query strings for the q= parameter, and other parameters, and save those.

I guess I might have to write this myself. tipsy It seems simple enough that even a novice like me could pull it off. If I do, or if I find a script, I'll post it here....

This guy is trying to do the same thing. I haven't been able to replicate what he did however.
