JZ ... wish I could help, but I don't know much about hacks. I will say this: I installed the hack, and it worked almost properly from the get-go, but I reinstalled it again once I got my bearings. From that point on, it worked perfectly. Try reinstalling it now that you've installed it once and have a feel for how to do it. Maybe you made a mistake, and reinstalling will fix it.

Redshift ... the UBBcodebuttons are overwritten as part of the hack; perhaps it's not supposed to be that way, but if you want them back, you'll have to modify the templates public_new_topic.pl, public_new_reply.pl, public_pm.pl, and public_edit_topic.pl ... I think those are the names, if not ... something like that.
