from what I understand these messages still clog up the system, filed away under user ID 0 or 1 (who is this? anonymous?)

If I just request to delete all PM older then a week, will that remove these old messages???? Without causing any collateral damage??

Additional question:

someone seems to be hacking the Private messages of other people in our board. This cannot be related, in some way, to this issue? these PM are not reachable in some weird way, like for anonymous users, or whatever??
