As has been said, UBB 6 is a rewrite of the internals, to make it faster and tighter. Something that has been long overdue.
There are new features going in, but not tons of them. The focus for 6.0 is optimization. Once that has come out, then new features will be put in with subsequent releases. The design of 6 is to allow new features to be easier to implement..
There are threads over at scriptkeeper as to what features ted has talked about so far. Other then that it is strictly confidental between Ted and the alpha testers.
Once it goes to beta, the beta testers are being adhered to strict confidentiality also, until 6 is released to the public.
