Everyone seems to misread the story.
They are not terminating Navigator, they're simply no longer making it their flagship product.
It will be around forever in the form of Mozilla, which will be the most standards-compliant browser on the market when it's 1.0.
Once it's in 1.0, and IE6 is out of beta, web developers can start actually doing the Right Thing rather than having to script and code for IE and Netscape properly. (IE6 and Mozilla render ~99.9% the same when both are operating in strict mode...)
