Hey, Ok ive moved hosting companies and uploaded all the files to the new server for the forum. Ive also changed the permissions of the files and directories to the same as the old server installation. This included all directories, sub-directories and files in each directory. I tested the hello.cgi and hello.pl which both work. However when I try and view the forum I get a 500 internal server error. Can someone have a look at: http://www.mariokartdoubledash.co.uk/forum/ultimatebb.cgi and see if you can work out whats wrong with it. Thanks for your help in advance

Make sure that you didn't set the entire cgi-bin to 777, that has this same effect on some servers. Other than that it sure seems like a permissions issue.

one thing to try is make sure that the files are being uploaded in ASCII, not binary. That and the CHMODing tend to be what cause that error

i always set my ftp to auto and it does the job. Ive installed loads of boards that way and it uploads each file in the correct format. Ive never ever had a problme with upload before.
Please keep the suggestions coming because im really stuck here and need the help.

have you considered putting the files into the cgi-bin, then using htaccess to get http://www.mariokartdoubledash.co.uk/forum/ to forward to the forum summary?

Ok, this is proving to be a real ball ache, so ive re-installed the forum from scratch and im uploading the other backup over the top of it. This way I know for sure the permissions of the files are correct and it "should" go back to the way the backup was.
Is there anything im missing or anything else I should do?

Have you succesfully ran the ubb6_test.cgi (not sure about the name) to verify that it works? Are the paths correct etc.?

? You might check permissions on the actual folders too and not just the files, some servers don't like 777 on the cgi folders that execute files, set them to 755. As well, you can move the Members folder outside the ubb folder so you can set permissions correctly for both. Anyways, if you need more assistance, just ask... I've done a few myself
