has anyone any idea how i can create a bookmark option in perl rather than javascript as i want to create a icon on the ultimate.cgi that when its clicked it bookmarks that particular forum.

I guess this could be acheived by using the URL for the forum but i dont know how to create the code needed to do the bookmark operation

Can someone please help out here ?

Perl doesn't interact with the browser like javascript does.

I think this has been done, but here is a Bookmark hack that i whipped up for ya.

Edit ubb_library2.pl

find:
Code
code:

ABOVE that ADD This:
Code
code:

Now place "$bookmark" (without the double quotes) into your forum where you want the link text to apear. I tested this out on a 5.45c and it worked great! It was a fresh board, so i just added that link to the Administrative Stuff at the bottom.

Here is a Link to the Bookmark Image:

Hope this helps ya. [Linked Image]

For this to work you ALSO need to add this to the <head*> (good place for this is from the CP, add it in the Header Stuff.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">code:

Altho, I think that the UBB comes with this option allready.

Not to plug our own site especially, but we've got some material related to that you can grab over at http://www.codebrain.com/javascript if that'll help you out. You can clip the working bookmark script off our front page at www.codebrain.com
