Odd question: is there some way I can stop CGI scripts from running in a particular directory on a Windows NT 4 web server? The web host cannot or will not remove execute permissions from the directory and files.

Unfortunately, NT isn't as 'easy' as Unix when it comes to permissions.

Basically, if the sysadmin has allowed executable scripts in a directory, anything ending in .cgi / .pl executes.

NT doesn't have a CHMOD command.

The only way I can think of is to change the file extension.

yea, if you change the extension to something that cant execute, that may work. Or you can just delete the files. [Linked Image]
Seriously though, blank index file maybe?

!? If you have IIS access its simple - the directory permissions can be set to none, scripts or Execute (which includes scripts)...
